Unable to win SM1.5 Series 4 Mission 1

Madman

Vice Admiral
So I'm completely confused as to why this happens but when i play this mission (the first mission in jakarta, which is the last dralthi mission), when i reach nav 1 the fralthi isnt there, it appears as i hit nav1 along with 3 dralthi, but if i turn and run i fail the mission (even thoguh i hit the nav), if i get closer though the fralthi explodes along with the dralthi and i fail the mission - in both cases i apparently get the recording!

I understand that it's the same fralthi from Anchorage mission 1 (series 3 misison 1) but the status of that fralthi (alive or dead) makes no difference to the bug in this mission.

Any thoughts?

Try clearing the nav points and then returning to the Fralthi. Also check your Nav map, it may appear there and you can auto directly to it. Always worked for me.

hmm, worked fine like that - how bizarre!

I had another equally entertaining bug on the penultimate mission - where you have to head to nav 1 to destroy 3 lumbari - i hit the fralthi in the asteroids on the way back and took it out then (instead of before) but bizarrely the game decided i let it go!

so i repeated and this time 2 of the lumbari dissapeared, but jazz had no kills - eitherway this time i was credited with "all the big ships were dealt with"

the logic in the game is baffling!

and there's the fact that it seems impossible to lose a campaign - sm1.5 has no losing track and whether you lose or win wc1 or sm1 you dont see a cutscene and you plough onto the next campaign.

Interestingly, I recall having issues like this with the original DOS game too. I'd always get tense at a debriefing after an escort mission, wondering if the game somehow decided I let the capship die when I actually brought it back safely to the Tiger's Claw.
