Trying to run Privater1 with OS Win98

I finally did the same thing with a IBM PC 330 P60 about a week ago. I have P1, WC Armada, WC ACADEMY, and RENEGADE: the Battle for Jacob Star install on it. I have a SB16 PCI card. I a course created a custom boot menu so I can choice which game to play. P1 plays on my win98 fine it was the other games I was having problems with. I got like four more DOS games I can load on it. This really is the best way to play old DOS games.
 
Hey there, I am having trouble getting P1 to run. I am running the win95 CD version of P1 which optimizes the shortcut and memory management. Obviously it doesnt have much luck w/ my newer PC, since I used to play this game on my old P-166 mmx.

When I go into DOS i checked the conventional memory; it read 590k...is that good or not enough? I'm not very good at configuring my hardware or making a boot disk, so can any of you guys help? The main problem w/ the game is the sound obviously, crashes when I type in priv, screen turns black. I think it has trouble loading the music and the speech most likely.

These are my files that the Win95 version tried to create for me, I dont think these will work but these are the settings I am stuck with for the shortcut, help? Please?

Forget what I previously posted, I finally got P1 working! I didnt even need to include a boot disk, it ran fine through the Windows shortcut process.

What I did was experimenting with a few settings with the IRQ since my sound card was sharing IRQ 7 w/ my LPT printer port, which causes the game to crash when I initialize the sound.

Long story short, I eventually got my sound card to switch to IRQ 5 and made some changes to the Bios system, and the computer runs just fine now.
 
Sound with privateer... need help

I have Privateer successfully running on my computer. Unfortunately, it only works with no sound or speech cards specified in the install options. How can I configure it to play sound?

Below are all relevant files. It starts with what the control panel told me about the two sound devices on my computer. I threw in the Gameport joystick but doubt I can get it to work. Then there are my bootdisk autoexec and config files. Thanks very much for the help.

I don't know if this is helpful... I use a bootdisk, rather than select "restart the computer in MS-DOS mode." For what it's worth, the problem may be that my printer is set on interrupt request 7, but I don't know.

Where are the DOS drivers for your Creative Soundblaster Audio PCI 64? There should be a folder like c:\sbpci or c:\sb16.
 
No, no folder like that... anywhere else it could be? I've looked around and done a search and found nothing. The only files that show up on a search for "sb" that look interesting are

sb3d.dll in windows/options/cabs
sb3d.dll also in windows/system
sb16awe in windows/inf
sb.apm and sb16.apm in c:/helpspot

Are any of those the drivers? (no I don't know much about computers.)
