The WC3 'Heart Of The Tiger' Movie Project

By the way, is it possible to have the missions or breifings(not the movies, but the ones where you review your mission objectives) included in the movie?

Thanks,

Yes, but they aren't videos in prophecy, so you have to record the footage yourself. Or extract the briefing audio and make your own wireframe animations.

So what all are you trying to do overall here? Video editing and making quality movies aren't easy, and it sounds like you've haven't done something like this before. You say you already have 15 minutes of your movie project done.. but you're not sure how to capture some basic stuff. It sounds like you need to map out what all you envision accomplishing here and go about learning how to do a few more things before you get too far in.

Queeg. Some good and bad news. The good part is that I didn't see anything wrong in your choice of order or with which missions to show. I think all the key elements are in place. THere were one or two wierd edits, like how you showed the hobbes/cobra confrontation on the flight deck right before the thrakhath transmission but after blair was summoned to the bridge. Overall, it seems you've got the final order done decently enough, so good work there.

Now about your gameplay footage. You seem to have the key elements down, but for what ever reason they just aren't adding up yet. Have you tried the object camera? Did you know you can adjust how close the camera is to your ship in the chase camera view? Not only that, things like flying through the walls of capships might be possible in the game, but it's just silly in a movie version of wc3. You have the right idea, but honestly putting a long unedited sequence of you playing on rookie mostly in the chase camera isn't quite interesting enough for me. After the third mission they all looked the same and some of them felt too long.

Sorry if this sounds harsh but I honestly would lose interest every time it went to a mission.

You can control how close the camera is in chase camera? That might of helped. I don't like the object camera because it makes the ship look like its not moving but space is moving around it. Thanks for being honest, I gave a copy of the dvd to my friend who hasn't played WC3 and he said the missions were too bland.

You should be able to control how close the ship is with the object camera too plus you can rotate the ships with the arrow keys in the object camera. I find the object camera more useful for showing other ships. Set it on a Dralthi and the dralthi will still be computer controled so you can follow it as it tries to make a straffing run on the victory or a transport you are escorting for example.

Use the arrow keys to rotate the object camera and it should be [ and ] to zoom in and out. They might be slightly different in wc3 than wc4 but I doubt it as these controls are present in Prophecy as well.

k, I'll give that a try when I get round to it.

I'll just make a new thread so we can talk about my problems there.
And ChrisReid, you're right, I haven't done this before. And what basic elements am I not understanding?

Thanks,

You should understand *how* to take stuff from the game and turn it into a video before you announce that you've embarked on the massive undertaking to do so.

Still trying to download.....

been pretty busy these last couple weeks.

How's your connection speed. It took me the better part of a day because it wouldnt download much faster that (was it?) 20Kb/s. By still trying, do you have a download manager like getright so that if you get disconnected you can resume the download?

Speed at 20kb/s. not having disconnect problems. Just my stupid roomate turning off computer.

*sighs* lets try again...

wierd.. I was sure I hit edit and not reply the second time... must have hit quote by accident.

That's exactly why, If you're not already, you should be using something like getright. :)

At least that way, when you turn it back on, you keep downloading from where you left off when the PC was shut down.

my cable modem has stopped rebooting constantly so there should be no connection drop outs on my part. I hope you get a chance to see it Raptor Pilot, you were very excited after all.

Make sure you download the latest version of winzip and extract it with that.

If you have trouble playing it after that, the only thing on my pc that would play it is the DivX player. Both media player and powerDVD wouldnt play it.
