For the last two days straight I couldn't access the CZ, because the server was jammed. It's clear now, but I fear it will soon die.

Erm, help? Is something wrong with my IP?

It isn't just you who's having these problems. I've heard from a bunch of people who're experiencing the same thing. It all started shortly after they upgraded the board...

I'm not sure what the problem is.. we've tried a number of things to try and sort it but since the problem never happens to admins, we never know if the problem is fixed. We are already running the latest version of the board code (including a little fix which was supposed to sort out this error) so there's not a lot more that we can do short of disabling a bunch of board features.

Though one thing to consider is this: If it keeps Bob McDob away for a couple of days is it such a bad thing? :)

It's sounding better by the minute, actually.

I'll disable the two features we enabled after upgrading, maybe that will help. Still, we are on a shared server, so it could be a coincidence that this started after upgrading. Who knows what the other people on this server are doing? Personally I'm thinking it's not actually our fault, because I've heard people complaining about it when there was just one person on the board. But we'll see.

While I've seen the board 'jammed' several times since the update, it usually only lasts for 30 minutes to and hour. Could it have something to do with one's ISP connection speed?

I used to only see it in the afternoons, and it was at fairly consistant times, so I figured it had something to do with server traffic elsewhere. For the past few days, though, its also been striking in the morning.
One of the most annoying things about it is the way it erratically treats unread messages. Sometimes attempting and failing to access the message board will mark all the threads as read. Other times, they'll all remain unread.

As for the glitch, its not much of a hassle, unless you're pressed for time...

I've had this problem many many times too, and the additional annoying thing is that despite the site is unaccessible, it recognizes you as being logged on. Which means the next time you'll access to the site, all the threads with "new" replies will be marked as read... :(

Yeah, same thing here. For a few days I couldn't enter CZ. The horror, the horror....:)
I hope this gets fixed soon. I like this new look of CZ, but if it ain't working...

Actually, I don't think it's the upgrades that are causing the problems. They disabled the new features a few days ago and, at times, the server has still been busy.

It can be much of a hassle indeed. While not being able to access the board at times is not that much a problem, I have already lost posts over this. I'd go to post something, and when I press submit I get 'Server is too busy'. So I press back in the hope of saving my post in a textfile but I still get 'server is too busy'.
Especially when you've just typed a lengthy reply it can be quite a nuisance. :(

Edit: It is also the reason I you haven't seen much of me lately. 80% of the time I go here the thing is busy, and when it isn't so many posts have been marked erroneously read that I don't feel like sorting it out by hand, and then I also sometimes lose replies that I don't feel like retyping.

Hope it gets sorted out soon.
