The age of lighter ships

It's been fairly well established that the Ranger & Concordia class Carriers are older desings, but what about their escort ships? How old were the Victory's escorts compared to the Victory herself?

Not sure about it story-wise, but the game designs are all from the time of WC3. Their angular shapes are due to limitations on the engine that had to rely on 1993 computers to run.

But as the initical cutscene tell us the Victory have a *very* long history. The destroyer/corvette/frigate are similar in style, but I don’t know how old they are.

The ranger class, if I remember correctly, are heavy destroyers from the war converted into carriers. So, while the destroyers are old, the carriers themselves are not that old.

Given the recent UE forum discussions, I'd say you have a short memory :p. The Rangers were designed as light carriers, probably sometime around 2580. The heavy destroyer conversion is the Durango class.

Well, they looked new to me....In what point of view:Cause They are less massive than Wc1,Wc2 destroyers/cruisers.They have simple design and lots of guns on them.I think that they were one of the latest designs for Confed, cause they wanted cheap CapShips and effective. So they decided maybe to make simplier destroyers, cruisers(and cruisers with no Fighters) and as effective as the old ones.

Thats my thought, but I cant say when they did produced

In my defense, I put a IIRC there :)

Change what I said to:

The rangers are old very old.

my theory is the same as TigersClaw's...confed had to rebuild the fleet quickly after the battle of terra, so they decided on simplified ships with a hell of a lot of guns. the fact that they still are being used in WC4 supports this. and the fact that the border worlds have them, when they usually have older ships, can be explained by the post-war downsizing of the fleet

Yes,thats exaclty my thoughts.I ve said that before, but looks like no one agrees :p :p

Actually, at least one of the Victory's escorts did have fighters, though I can't remember what its name was and if it was the cruiser or one of the destroyers.

And remember, after the battle of Terra, Confed couldn't rebuild its fleet at all, since it had lost all those shipyards.

i think it was the cruiser, cause it has what looks to be a hanger btwn the engines, but a destroyer has that same thing when it shows one flying past confed hq. so mabye all the victory's escorts had fighters

confed had other shipyards besides the ones at earth

Corsair's probably right. It's not like six Hakagas simply popped up a few klicks from the Moon.
I'm pretty sure the cats had a more or less free ride until up to Warsaw, where the fleet was gathering... and then they forced the fleet to pull back 3 or 4 systems until reaching Sol, passing thru Sirius which I believe was a major system at the time too... Not to mention they could've spread out some secondary cruiser and carrier detachments across the entire Vega sector, since Confed was concentrating its defenses on the route to Sol. In fact, Epsilon was also probably left with few defenses, since we know a small Kilrathi fleet got as far as the Landreich systems (then again, I think it's possible they could've moved inside Kilrathi territory until reaching a Kilrathi-Landreich border, if there is such a thing... I don't remember too well).

I believe throughout all those sectors that were either left open wide or abandoned during battle there were at least a few other major shipyards, since we're talking about Vega sector, possibly Epsilon sector, and a part of Sol sector as well.

I think the invaders began to be truly expelled only once other ships started coming online until Confed had enough forces to spread out across all the space they left open in the initial defense effort... although at this point, all Kilrathi fleets combined probably weren't as dangerous as the one which headed for Earth and got it's ass kicked there.

Maybe they started to build them some months before the Battle of Tera.....and they made fast lots of them unitl that day.
Well,It cant be every single Shipyard destroyed after the Battle of Terra!

How did they upgrade their Fighters,CapShips later ,as we see `em at Wc3 ??If all of Confed`s Shipyards were destroyed,we would have lost the war.....

It had the ones at Jupiter that, we assume, were making Bengals, and some other ones somewhere that were turning out Concordias...
