Text Overlap - Purchasing Weapons

Question on Menu Overlap, Purchasing Weapons

First off, congrats to the 'Re'makers of Privateer.

One thing I noticed is that all new menu selections (saves, purchases, etc) overlay the old, so there is a jumble of text on the screen. Also, none of the subsystem images (for weapons, jump drive, etc) appear in the purchase window. I have been able to work around this so far, but I'd like to be able to see the images.

Here's my real problem: When I try to buy a Tractor Beam, it displays:

Select mount for your item:
1 Heat Seeker
2 Heat Seeker
3 (Empty) LIGHT MEDIUM HEAVY
4 Laser

Ok Cancel

However, the only menu options that I can click on are "Ok" or "Cancel". I cannot click on any of the 4 options, nor does anything happen when I hit any of the numbers on my keyboard (keypad or otherwise).

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there something I have not tried? I welcome any suggestions. This is a great game, and I would really like to be able to upgrade my ship.

Bah! I just figured out what I'm supposed to do:

Click "Buy", click on an available slot (even though it does nothing), Click "Ok"

However, this didn't work the first time I tried it while trying random things.

Incidently, my interface screen looks nothing like the interface screen in the manual.

What do you mean when you say the text overlaps? My menus don't look wrong at all ...

You could take a screenshot. Host it at Imageshack if you don't have anywhere to put it.
