What should the polycount for a fighter model be? I'm just wondering what I should shoot for when I'm modelling new ships (I know we've had... issues with ship usage recently... I completely agree with Eder).
The engine doesn't place a limit, performance is driven by your video card. The number and size of textures has an impact as well. The answer is, it depends on your target hardware, and what other models will be in the scene at the same time. It's a design decision for you to make.
