TCS Cimino - Where?

The Landreich weren't created until Fleet Action. What you're thinking of is from False Colors, though -- cruisers are named after "military men who ended up in exile" and carriers are named after declarations of independence.

Yeah, thats right, got those two mixed up, they're both really good books.

It's even worse than that. Again IIRC, they talk about bringing up ships from below the flight deck, at some point.

I took a look at the ingame model of the Interpid, it looks like there would be just enough room to store ships underneath the flight deck, but not much else. Maybe they dont store the ships just under the deck but also into the area beside the flight deck in the main frame?

I think there is a technical problem here regarding the Landreich, I just finish re-reading Action Stations (Battle of McAuliffe 2634 - Beginning of the Kilrathi War) and the Landreich existed then. There were several entries throught that indicated that Landreich was around for sometime.
I am guess it must be an off shoot of the Confederation or something, which I am not sure about.

In the fictional WC timeline, the Landreich existed long before the events of Fleet Action. However, in the order of publishing, there were no mentions of it before FA's first printing.

Sooo can I say that the Landreich existed before the Kilrathi War and is considered canon material??

Humans don't spring forth fully formed (... except in the Tri-System...) -- the Landreich is a region of space colonized by settlers from Earth, and was part of the Terran Confederation before 2650.

In that year the Landreich System, with a few others, formally secceded from the Confederation and set up shop as the Free Republic of the Landreich. Since that time, more and more systems in the region have joined, and it has become the Landreich we know today.

Saying that the Landreich existed in 2634 is like saying that Virginia existed in 1770. It's true, but it refers to a region (and a local government) rather than a coutnry (and a federal government).

And stop saying 'canon'. Everyone.

Ok that makes sense, so what you trying to say that the Landreich does exist, it does have a government, not part of the Confederation and Confed does not recognise as an independent govt?

"Virginia existed in 1770" you lost me there mate

Sorry, an American history specific reference I suppose. Virginia is an American state, but it existed before the Declaration of Independance in 1776, because it was a British colony.

But no, the basic political concept is that they have a local government but are part of the Confederation (which is the national government).

Think of it like real life, extended into space. In the city you live in you'll have a mayor and a city council... and then you'll have a governor and a legislature for your state and province... and then there's a national government with a legislature and a president or prime minister. The Landreich in 2634 is that middle step.

Now, it's a special case somewhat because the Confederation doesn't care about the Landreich and the Landreich doesn't care about the Confederation in 2634... but formally they're all part of the same nation.

Awww, we only just learned how to spell it, and now we're no longer allowed to say it?

Anything interesting for us readers?

Well, you could read the document... :)

Which has been updated! The Intrepid is now a Light Carrier, the Fralthra is now a Heavy Cruiser and there's some notes about the Sivar and the Coventry. Biggest change is transports -- all the WC1/2 transports now have their proper roles (Where known), and their 'class ships' list and site all the known roles (ie, weird stuff like minesweeper, mine layer and hospital ship).

Bob tells me Psych has a reference for the Waterloo-class being a Heavy Cruiser -- anyone know what it is? I'd love to add that if it exists.

I think they're referring to the last debriefing in Pembroke system after Pembrooke D, where Tolwyn and Blair are discussing the TCS Gettysburg mutiny.

Tolwyn: I’m not too surprised, Maverick. We had a report several weeks ago that the pilots of the TCS Gettysburg staged a mutiny near N’Tanya. When we lost communications with the Rigel Supply Depot, I thought they might’ve jumped to this system.

Maverick: N’Tanya… isn’t that one of the three Kilrathi planets that are rebelling against the Empire?

Tolwyn: Correct, Colonel. N’Tanya, K’arakh, and Shariha are fighting to join the Confederation. We’ve been trying to locate the Gettysburg since that incident at N’Tanya.

Maverick: Mutiny aboard a Confederation cruiser… I’m surprised I never heard about this, sir.

That's probably where the confusion comes in - plus the fact it shows up in the Encyclopedia as a Waterloo. :D

Uh, the quote you posted doesn't refer to Gettysburg as a heavy cruiser... so it doesn't seem like that's the reference you're looking for.

This is good stuff

I skimmed over the ships list this morning and I had a few questions off the top of my head.

I'm assuming the CCG has pictures of the ships so we know the Bordrav and the Trak'hmar are both the same kindof escort destroyer (I didn't see this card in the pictures in the CIC WCCCG card scans), but the Frawquirg is just listed as an escort destroyer in FC. Can we really assume its the same type?

How can we know the Invincible and the [/i]Hermes[/i] are Concordia class from a WC3 cutscene (a game in which the Concordia carrier hasn't even been thought of yet :))? A pretty good case can be made that the Invincible is a Concordia because of its age, but that still can't pinpoint it to one class. The Hermes is contained in two or maybe three lines of text in the WC3N (the two that come to mind are the scouting in Loki and the one you have cited in the ship description. There might be one other) and I don't see how a class asignment can be brought about from that.

Again, this is good stuff, LOAF. Maybe on a more thorough read through, I'll have some more questions.
