System Shuts Down

I'm running Privateer Remake on an emachnies laptop. Everything seems to work fine, but the whole system shuts down about half-a-mission after I start the game. This only happens with Privateer Remake; no other programs cause the system to shut down this way. What is happening and how can I fix it?

which video card do you have?
get the latest drivers from the manufacturor...
Vega Strike (since it runs at userlevel permissions) is simply NOT allowed to shut down the whole computer..at worst it could bring up a dialog box asknig you if you wished to reboot (which it has clearly not done).
Therefore it *must* be a driver problem (since drivers run at higher than userlevel)-- and to get the latest drivers you need to find out the make and model of your video card.
right click on your desktop
go to properties
and settings
then Advanced
then click on adapter
copy that information here (or go to the manufacturor's website and get the latest drivers)
and I'm sure we can help you.
Also try running it at lower resolution with lower detail settings...but I'm fairly sure it's just old, busted drivers.
