Nep Parth

Spaceman
This was suggested by Dark Tower. Maybe this topic was discussed before I came, but...how SHOULD the Nephilim story continue after Secret Ops? Obviousely civilian companies and Confed would have some secrets of their technology (they're our equal, but not our better...we have some better tech, but they have MORE ships...)

So...what should happen?

NO!

Let the Kilrathi come back again... just like in False Colours: when we thought everything was over, Kilrathi warlords pop up again... :)

Oh please, no more bugs! Please!!!
The game developers obviously have many problems in finding a decent background for the bugs. C'mon, 2 games and we still haven't got a clue about them! It was nice, but now it's over. Let's move on. How about the Kilrathi finding some allies to fight the Confederation?

Perhaps begin a new WC game with something involving both the bugs and...(drum roll please)...the Steltek! Somehow interleave a story that the bugs came back with some extraordinary weapon they found , come back with a vengence, and the Steltek detect the use of this unusuall weapon, much like the drone detected the Steltek gun in Privateer. Maybe add a twist to it, some old renegade Kilrathi from Khaul's 6th fleet returns with his Dralthi with the copy of the Retro's version of the gun. Make it a toss up as to which side that old vet Kilrathi joins. Then along comes the Steltek to attempt to either help one side or the other or attempt to prevent BOTH sides from using their technology.

We should learn more about the bugs due to alien records (Mantu, Kilrathi, Steltek or so), then the bugs return through the stellar accreation device and conquer a large portion of the Confederation. The Terrans have to flee the inner sectors and make real allies with the Kilrathi.

Maybe the bugs search for another race with which they battled eons ago (Steltek?) but were defeated. Now they return because they found some means to make up their defeat and think the Terrans are allies to their foe, or they just see them as "bonus" race to be conquered.

I think it's pretty obvious that the next game would bring back the bugs -- in WCP and SO they were clearly setting us up to find out more about them... and the war clearly is *not* over. "Bringing back" the Kilrathi would be stupid and insulting.

Nah, I don't like it when sth is started but not finished Although if their secret is never revealed, they pose an ever-lasting threat which could cause some serious paranoia in Confed military :).
Still, I want the bug story to be continued.

I've turned not finishing things into an art form.

Hmmm... That was cryptic.

Moving on.

Um, yeah, anyway, I think not bringing back the Bugs as the bad guy in a future WC game would suck penguin ass(I wonder what the hell I'm talking about).

Storyline-wise we're between a rock and a hard place. Everyone thought fighting the kats was the most fun, but they've been defeated and won't come back. I still think a game set during the kat war would be great, but they have to finish with the bugs first. Just wouldn't feel right to leave that as a loose end.

I think the bugs will be a lot more fun when we do know more about them, like we do with the Kilrathi. When we find out about them it will add another dimension to the game and im sure many people will find it a lot more interesting.

Hmmm, with an ever lasting threat, that also poses the possibility that those who think Tolwyn had the right idea all along will make another stab at carrying out The Plan. That could make for some more good human vs human stories.

Yeah, I would have given a lot to see that trilogy finished.

I'd like to see us the rest of the bug story --
hate to start something that isn't finished. I'd like the
next mission to be an undercover scouting trip through
the wormhole. We know from the fan fiction that we have
captured intact bug warships -- maybe send one through
with a human crew and fighter escort to do a little exploring? Learn who they are, and what their interest
in us is.

I would NOT like to see the Kilrathi brought back as
enemies because that war's over. Stick a fork in it,
It's done. Let's move on.

It's not like the galaxy is a peaceful, quiet place without
the Kilrathi. I kind of see the Kilrathi as more like
the English and the Scottish -- fight each other
for years and years, then discover that there's a whole
bunch of other people (French, Germans, Indians, Russians,
Americans, Dutch, Chinese, etc. etc.) who need an ass-whoopin' more than each other. So they joined and
fought together against each and every one of these
opponents. And beat most of them. If memory serves
Scotsmen could be found throughout the British empire,
and were some of its most fanatically loyal supporters.
I can see the Kilrathi filling that role in a
larger, expanded confederation.

Respectfully,

Brian P.

Ok, for the millionth time then... let's go back in time during the original Kilrathi war: exploit the succesful thread, cut this bug crap with Petrarca or no Petrarca, get some new actors, perhaps get McDowell again, and success is guaranteed... :)

Yeah, let's fly all the missions we didn't get to see during our time on the Claw. Escort the garbage barge, fly patrols with no enemies showing up. That would be fun.

The Kilrathi war is over, for now :), lets move on. I'd like to see the rest of what they were going to do with the bugs. I liked being left in the dark, it was a nice change of pace from the Kilrathi. I don't like the idea of going back in time, becasue you will inevitablly run into more WC movie-like "problems." I've said elsewhere, I wouldn't mind seeing Confed get involved with the Kilrathi Civil War (i'm not sure that would be a wise political move, but we are talking about Confed here) but I want the bug storyline resolved first.

What's wrong with the bugs. WCP has a very interesting story if they do it right.
