Something [new?]

I guess you have to steal your ideas from somewhere-I'd just try not to do it to a game as popular in the genre as WC. *shrugs* That is pretty cheap though. :(
 
That doesn't look all that much like a Tiamat, and there certainly isn't enough resemblence to claim that they copied WC.
 
The number of sims out there with Dralthi look-alikes are too numerous to count. Freespace has its Ulysses, Tachyon has no fewer than 3 ships that look amazingly like a Dralthi, and what's with the ship on the StarLancer box. (although that one doesn't really count...)
 
I think there's only an apparent resemblence because we are familiar with the Nephilim ships. While it could have been inspired by or copied from the bugs' dry dock and engines, I don't think there was any intentional copying involved. And even if it was, the closer the resemblance to a WC object, the better, isn't it? :)
 
The 'arms' on the front of the thing are similar, but the body is very, very different. Its just a big round blobbish thing, and doesn't look nearly as nice as what you'd see on a Nephilim ship.
Are there any other shots of other ships from this game? How closely do they resemble Nephilim ships?
 
The fact that we not only notice it looks vaugely like a Nephilim ship but the fact that some of us know WHICH KIND of ship speaks volumes about how much of a copy it is.

The only thing it speaks volumes about is people's obssession to see copies of WC in every game. I'm sure there are things which were inspired by WC in various games - Dralthi-lookalikes and such. This, however, is most definitely not one of them.
I mean, just look at it. It has a big hull with prongs sticking out of it... so it must be a copy of the Tiamat? Why, by that definition, every ship with a hull and a pair of wings must be a copy of the WC1 Hornet!
 
Perhaps you should email the people making that game and ask them where they got their ideas from then. I don't think Syd ripped off anyone else to get his specific ship designs.
