Absolutely fantastic exposure for Wing Commander- great stuff! When thinking about the headline ships within sci-fi, there are a ton to be considered- awesome that WC made the list.

That said... Of the ships in the WC universe, is the movie TC even the most iconic within its universe? One could make the argument, however, that Home One isn't the most iconic within its universe, either.

Actually yes, it is. More people saw the Wing Commander movie just while it was in theaters than ever bought a Wing Commander game. The Slashdot people didn't consciously mean one Tiger's Claw or another though. I just used the movie image on the front page to play off their sloppy spelling.
