Shipnames

He was in the shore, and his broken ship (the Aft side)crush his head.........
even his ship hated the poor guy :(

The orignal name for the USS North Dakota was "Skeered 'O Nuthin'". For some reason, it never caught on. :)

Also, HMS Dreadnought was known as the "Hard-Boiled Egg". "Why? Because she can't be beat! :p"

See, Cadfael doesn't have the market on odd ship names... ^_^

If I remember correctly, Invincible is considered a bad-luck name for a ship by naval personnel. Politicians, however, don't take notice of such things.

What's the story with Intrepid?

I've heard that it's supposed to be the ship equivalent to a black cat crossing under a ladder on Friday the 13th... Any truth to the "Evil I" myth?

Thats an understatement! Politicians have a habit of messing things up. They are also the worlds best liars.

Oh, man... The LIES I have had to hear from politicians... I grew up in a country where anyone who wore an American flag T-shirt or criticised the regime was sent to prison... Where every child was born into the Communist Party and where I was taught from day 1 to hate America and everything it stood for.

I have an American flag hanging over my bed. For the bastards.

My grandfather served on the Intrepid near the end of WWII. He has very fond memories of those times. Sorry, i got nothing to back the Evil I myth with.

Yeah, I've heard mean things about them Canooks... Amazing. the US is so worried about a socialist country 90 miles off the FLorida coast, and they share a 10 000 mile border with a socialist country... But then again. What are they gonna do, send the mounties?

Similarly, one can say what is Cube going to do? Starve in our general direction? I think Canada's alright ;) At least the streets are cleaner... And the scope they have on their version of the M-16 kicks. So does the magazine.

Whose worried about Cuba? What are they going to do, swarm us with their starving refugees? Mount weapons on their 50 year old cars? Its Castro our government has problems with. And it is a clearly Communist country, not socialist.

Yes, but why?!

I mean, let him run his little country, it's nobody's business but his, if the people don't like him they'll topple the bastard, I mean it happened in the Soviet Union... I say leave them all alone and let them starve to death and then put up some Club meds there.

inertia basically, but originally because he was going to replace the fasacist ruler of Cuba with a US friendly government, but then went and became Communist. Plus there is all those human rights issues. They have none. Or else why would they be leaving by the leaking boatfulls. The Soviet Union collapsed cause it couldnt afford to exist anymore. Or else no uprising would have been tolerated. Cuba, for some reason, hasnt reached that point yet.

You know, I mean, what I had for lunch today and whether today's CZ topics were good or not has a much bigger impact on my way of life than knowing some Communists are sitting halfway around the world in a little island country... As long as he doesn't hurt me, I have no problems with him. I'd never vacation there, but I mean, You know, it's just a foreign country...

Personally I don't think the US government is particularly concerned with the human rights of the Cubans since they send back everyone they find in a rubber dinghy, right back to where they came from. For some reason, someone in Washington hasn't been informed that the missile crisis is over.

Don't you think you're being a little harsh there? I mean, "let all the cubans starve to death?"

Anyway, Castro is in his 70s, so communist Cuba probably won't last much longer...the only reason it made it this far is because of Castro and his powers. Which powers, I have no clue. :)

Anyway, I'd prefer to get this thread back on track before it suffers the same fate as the "Weird..." one...I mean, I acknoledged it wouldn't last long , I just wanted to show people that weird Centuraion look-alike.

Enough babbling. Go visit my web site. I updated the ship names list. :)

Hey Bob your page is getting pretty cool right now and the lego stuff is great ive build hundrets of small ships and have several fleets at home but as for a 20 year old i shouldn't be playing lego anymore and therefore i have got to hide the little ships from my girlfriend.
Question:
How did you do the instructions for the lego models i mean did you paint them??

Announcement:
My ship names never meant to be wc ships.
They are just names that could be used in mods aso..

Well, I kinda agree that we shouldn't bother with Cuba. The trade restrictions were enough. I don't think we (The US) should get involved with other countries too much. Let them solve their own problems. Now if they want to buy weapons i.e. Taiwan, sure. Pay us and you got it. Leave the peacekeeping to the UN.

And I do think the US is concered with human rights, just because we have to, else people with too much time on their hands tend to protest. I don't think any of the Presidents give a flying monkey turd about what's happening to people on the other side of the world. But I do think they have to do something about it.

But this is not the place to discuss the size of your pants.
There's something which could be taken out of context. :)

One ship name that I thought was quite amusing was a Star Destroyer from X-Wing: Badi Dea. ie a rearrangement of Bad Idea. :)

Thanks for all the kind words. I hate to dissapoint you, but 1: I didn't REALLY make the LEGO models, and 2: I didn't design them myself. Wait, wait, here me out. I built them from plans posted by HellcatV back in April. Everything except the Scimm & Battlewagon is recreated from them. I did, of course, take a couple of liberties where the instructions were vague. :D

As for construction, I used a program called LDRAW & MLCAD that should be available at http://www.ldraw.org .It's very good and easy to use. Not a huge download, either. I highly recommend it.

If you REALLY want to know how to build them, I can try posting the .dat files. Most of them aren't very elegant - more in line with what I call the "sculpting" design of LEGO building.
