Ship Names, Political Ramifications

Anyone know what the significance of the name TCS Johnny Greene is? Shame on me if it's obvious, but when I googled the name, I didn't get much.

Thanks for the info!
I've recently completed my collection fo Startrek TNG, DS9 and Voyager DVDs.
I spent a LOT of hours watching'em and fancied myself an expert. I'm evidently not.

TCS Earth... to lame? of course it would be a morale killer to lose it in battle.

I've only got Seasons 4 and 6 of DS9 on DVD so far, but got a lot of Vids :D

Here's a List of Starfleet Ships that have Japanese Origins

USS Akagi NCC-62158 - Rigel-Class
USS Akira NCC-62497 - Akira-Class
USS Hiroshima - Steamrunner-Class
USS Honshu - Nebula-Class
USS Kyushu NCC-65491 - New Orleans-Class
USS Musashi
USS Okinawa NCC-13958 - Excelsior-Class
USS Yamaguchi NCC-26510 - Ambassador-Class
USS Yamato NCC-71807 - Galaxy-Class

Considering the importance of Michael Okuda to Startrek (Scenic Art Supervisor-technical consultant), Japanese or Asian names to any of the ships are a well deserved honor.
