Re: Hopper drives

The Hopper (Morvan) Drives were first mentioned in the movie novelization, as well as the Confederation Handbook.

They are called Hopper Drives, because they're used to "hop" between relativelly close stars.

They were used by Pilgrim explorers, but they were unreliable, and had short range. They were invented late in the 22nd century, and what they did was create a gravity well (sort of) that could be jumped through like the Quasars in the movie. But it had a very short range (25/30% of a light year), and the risk was to great, plus it had many limitations (like you couldn't activate it near an object with their own gravity, and you couldn't activate the drive for at least 18 hours since the last "hop").

In Pilgrim Stars however, Pilgrims have developed a new type of Hopper Drives under Confeds eyes, this one was much more safer, and had a much greater distance, and the gravity well it made could be used as a weapon that could even swallow entire planets.

Confed allowed Pilgrims to produce this new drive, because they wanted to take it for themselves once it was completed. The Pilgrims however knew that Confed was watching them, and they completed the drive before Confed was ready to stop them

So you are saying that a hooper drive create a artificial jump point mode that could de use to connect to deferents star systems?
Well It would take a Powerful energy sourse to provide power to the Gravatiy well not to even mention the size of the damm thing?
Its no wonder that Confed tried to have that tecnology.
And why its so dificult to make one work.

Ant : Are you building some kind fo ew drive, the hooper drive?

Earth : The Hopper (Morvan) Drives

Ant : A little spelling error? It's MORGAN

Ah, WTF? It's named MorVan after the name of a scientis that originally hypotesized about the possibility of Hopper Drives.

For your future posting pleasure, remember than not every name must be spelled incorectly just because it looks like a different name. Why in the hell would it be named Morgan anyway?

And finally, pointing out spelling errors doesn't make people look any smarter, just lamer.

But seriously the hooper drive would kick ass. I have no idea what it would do, but it would do something.

Sorry about the 'baval base' thing. An attempt to be funny, which fell flat :(

I don't think that you quite understand what's going on in this thread, Mr. Ant.

The Hopper Drive isn't something we made up, it's a real thing. Or rather, it's as real as anything else from the WC universe...

You must be either blind, or stupid.

The name of that drive is HOPPER, where in the hell did I misspell it Mr. smartguy?

The fact remaines the same. We should make specs for a Codenamed HOOPER DRIVE and make a mission in a new WC where you have to escort a protostype ship to a testing lab with it, then l8r in the game you get the drive on your fig.

lol. Yes you destory hoover damn, develop an engine that shoots the peices otu at a very high velocity, and move youa t about 1 MPH
