Privateer 2 Station Music

Hi there Muchachos,

I am and always have been a huge fan of Privateer 2 thanks predominantly to its absolutely first rate cinematics and mood setting. I simply can't get of enough the bizarre psychadelic atmosphere from Becs' purple skyed monastic panoramas to Hermes' sinister neon industrial skyline. From Brian Blessed's enormous vocal chords to Christopher Walken's quirky but charismatic style - but above all, I just love the music throughout, especially the music that plays in the background as you wait at the various planetary rendez-vous points.

A few examples might be:

1) Waiting in the 'Surgeons Blunder Bar' with the strange and eery vocal
2) At Hermes' outside the booths with the metal skull-cap guy banging his head against the door
3) The ethereal and somewhat therapeutic tune that repeats constantly as you peruse any booth system (has a sort of bird noise ?)

Anyway, I have downloaded the various FMV clips both from the original discs and from the VHS hi-res copies that were recently published for download on the museum site but alas, I still have no clue as to how to extract the aforementioned music files from the discs - I imagine they must be in one or more of the .iff files but how to prize them out is the question ?

If anyone has any idea how I might go about getting these audio samples, please don;t hesitate to respond as I desperately need to know - I thought my next move might be to add them to my eve-online playlist so I can revel in splendid nostalgia.

Thanks in advance,

Metatronic

Thanks for the responses Death100 and AD. Yes, as you say, the only music downloads for Privateer 2 appear to be the in-flight midi's which are pretty uninspiring.

I hope someone can help me with this query as I'm desperate to get the music off the CD's.. there MUST be a way !!

Have you tried finding the music from the website on one of the main composers'/writers for the game; look at James Hannigan's website

Other than that, I suppose trying an audio extracter like TREMAN's could possibly do the trick or something close to that.

I love the inflight and minimal music on Privateer 2 and always wondered myself how to extract the music from the P2 disks.

It's interesting how different the music in midis for download here sound so different than on my computer. I understand it largely depends on the soundcard you had when playing the game and such.

Thanks for the advice Don, I tried the composer's website but found little music available for download.

I'm sure TREMAN is a fantastic piece of software however judging by the complexity of the readme file, I'm not sure I have the patience required to persue that avenue.

I've decided to use audacity to record music in the background.. here goes nothing ! =P

Thanks again for all your help everyone !
