Ranks are determined by how active a poster has been at the Chat Zone. If you post nonsense posts to artificially increase your rank, you will be banned.
 
Things cadets can find useful:
It used to be that you gained certain privelages with rank, that was a long time ago. Even if you do gain rank, you could lose it if the server has major problems or the administrators deem it necessary to take action. Keep the rules which are easy to access in mind, and try to keep the number of smiles down to an appropriate level, and you should have no problems.
 
I use to have almost 200 post... now I have like 10

I like how they do the ranks. All the other boards I post on only have like 2 or 3 user levels. I remember when this one was like that. I like how they do this now.
