OFF-TOPIC: Question for German Colleagues

Hi,

This isn't a strictly Wing-Commander question, but
I don't know where else to go to get this answer quickly.

While browsing through CERN, I found a quote for a specific
piece of software that they maintain called GKSGRAL. It
is quoted as costing

DM 28.000

My question: Does that period after "28" represent a
decimal point? Is that "28" DM or 28 THOUSAND DM?

Also, how would I find out about how much that is in
American dollars?

Hmm.. to make this WC-related -- maybe someday I'll buy
Armada or Academy from someone in Germany, and this will
save me the trouble of asking in the middle of an E-bay
auction.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Respectfully,

Brian P.

You'd better ask the seller about the period, there's a pretty huge difference bettween 28DM and 28 thousand DM.
Hum I think a DM is about half a canadian dollar which is about half of a US dollar, then once you pay for exchange, it would probably be about a third of an american dollar, I think. Anyone know for sure?

Thanks. I honestly don't know what that period
represents -- I am unfamiliar with European conventions.

Respectfully,

Brian P.

It means 28000 DM. In Germany we use points instead of commas. So is 999,00 DM a lot less than 99.900 DM.

Respectfully,
Eleazar

1DM is equal to 0.463194 USD .

Since the Euro has been introduced, all European countries that joined it (including Germany, excluding UK) have a fixed reference course to the Euro, it was fixed in January 1st, 1999. One Euro is 1.95 DM, so if you got the Euro-Dollar course, you automatically get the German D-Mark course, too.
