Why would the Bengal Class Ships cease production in 2657 if other classes, such as the Ranger Class Light Carrier that the TCS Victory belonged were still being produced even though their design dates from 2579 whearas the Bengals were built nearly 40 years later.

The Ranger-class ships *weren't* still being produced. The Victory wasn't a new ship -- it was just brought up to the front lines when Confed was running low on carriers.

The Bengal-class ceased production to allow the yards at Trojan IV to produce another, newer class of carrier. Carrier-capable yards were at a premium during the war.

I'm interested why the Bengal Class was classified as Strike carrier? The armament wasn't much stronger than from standard fleet carriers IIRC.

I don't think you can rely on Joan's for the complete armament -- the Bengal certainly had a mess of offensive weaponry, which we see in the end game sequence to WC1 (G) (Those big green guns).

Thank God the Bengals were still in their fighting prime during Custer's Carnival. Anybody know how big the Tiger Claw's fighter wing was?

TC told me they produced Bengals all through the war ... I assume they switched to Connies then?

According to LOAF (praise him) , the Confed class was only produced for 6 years, the Bengals were replaced by the Jutland Class CVA

The Victory is something like thirty-five years old by the time of WC3--Eisen claims to have served on it as helmsman (Lieutanant) on her maiden voyage. It is likely that the Victory was one of the carriers that was rushed to completion just after the war broke out.

104 fighters.

Nice idea overmortal, same train of thought but different idea. Wouldn't it be neat to create a Special Ops mod to simulate Custer's Carnival? And thanks LOAF, quite a bit more than a Nimitz-class CVN.

Do we even have any idea what even happened during Custer's Carnival, besides what's described in Claw Marks?

There's some fun details in the WC1/2 Guide and the Confed Handbook... stuff that would make a 'fan project' tie in neat -- like the fact that there were ten Draymans that needed to be rescued.

Mmm, interesting. Although, rescue/escort missions tend to be quite painful when there's a determined strike force in the area...

I suspect interest in a Custer's Carnival re-enactment would fade when players realize that, statistically, it's even money that they'd not survive the scenario, seeing as half the Claw's pilots didn't make it back at all or only made it back by way of a hospital bed. :D

It could be made as one of those fan-made movies.

That's why I said I wanted a novel, as opposed to playing it. I doubt I'd enjoy a movie about it . . . they'd probably have Kevin Costner in it for some reason, and the whole thing would just go to hell for it.
