New Poll: Still With Us? (August 20, 2017)

The traditional birthday poll is now up with another year added to it. How long have you been coming to the CIC? We get a steady stream of newcomers, but we know a lot of Wingnuts have been with us since even before the very beginning!




The old poll asked about your favorite fixer from Privateer. The ladies of Gemini Sector clearly won with Tayla in first, Taryn Cross a close second and Sandra Goodin in third. Even Lynn Murphy almost beat Admiral Terrell for fourth. Dr. Monkhouse seriously got robbed with just 0.59% of the vote... less than half the tally of the unnamed informant from Righteous Fire!

I joined in 2013 but in spirit I've been here sin e Wing Commander came out on the SNES.

In fairness to the mysterious informant, Monkhouse was a whiny scientist and terrible passenger whose only saving grace was his knowledge of the Steltek and possession of the corresponding piece of the Steltek artefact. The mysterious informant was more fun - you first meet him while helping Monte, and then he seeks you for his own ends. (Spoiler alert!) While a member of the Retro cult, he nevertheless acts with honour towards you, keeping his word in allowing you access to the Retro base and find Jones, and even destroying the Steltek gun copies and removing you from the Retros' wanted list. That you don't even know his name or his allegiance, yet work as allies for a brief time is a great idea, in my opinion, despite the relatively short time you interact with him.
