New game concept(reposted from another thread)

Manic

Rear Admiral
Forgive me for eating up the extra .5k of bandwidth, but I really felt this idea should be looked over, and it'd likely be buried in the thread it was originally in... what does everyone think? Questions? Comments? Elaborations on ideas? Suggestions? Lemme have it! Perhaps if we flesh it out enough Origin will get off it's laurels and make it! (A big if, but perhaps some gaming company would liscence it) Here goes...

I don't think that Blair was the CAG in WC3 as the CAG remains behind on the carrier to direct fighter operations, . Anyway i like your idea on the game, something a bit like X-COM interceptor perhaps where you have to order munitions, repair fighters hire pilots direct operations such as patrols & strikes etc, all during real-time?

I LIKE that idea! Sort of... With Confed's military structure you wouldn't really be able to buy things... But you COULD manage repairs and such, and hiring pilots could be rephrased to "Requisition pilot"... :) Then you have to wait for the pilots to arrive from elsewhere... ooh, me like! Having to requisition everything from missiles to replacement pilots...
I had an idea that might apply in this concept too. I was thinking a strategy/action/sim game, similar to Wing Commander armada... but the computer generates enemy fleet sizes and flight paths. If you happen to come across them (perhaps the larger ships should appear on radar, as it'd be no fun to just flit about aimlessly)... your goal would be to direct other wings, as well as your own, in flight paths... and doing everything from assigning ships and pilots to even telling them where to go... (by means of waypoints)... and have them report in if they hit enemy resistance. Kind of a Rainbow Six in space... :) You would have complete control over your wing, and your fighter of course... and be able to order wings of reenforcements in reserve ahead of time... Imagine... every mission having consequences you couldn't possibly predict... Single Player missions giving you the general direction of where you need to go, but not how to do it, leaving the game fully in your hands... It'd be perfect for multiplayer too!(though it'd take a bloody hour to get a MP game going.) :)
Wing Commander: CAG. I LIKE IT!

Well? What do you think?

I like a game called Wing Commander where you fly a space ship and shoot at aliens.

<hands Manic a cookie> you've...you've earned it

I can see it now,
Order and fly daring missions against critical facilities behind enemy lines that you designate for destruction, rally round to defend your fighter production facility, capture Kilrathi warships and interrogate prisoners...All this and More!!!
Wing Commander : CAG :D

At first I didn't really like the idea. After all Wing Commander is all about flying. However, upon reading further I found it to be a great idea. Seeing how you incorporated the flying in there as well. I applaud you on a great idea. And I also think this game would be one of the ultimate Wing Commander Games! (Anyone else think Armada was great?):D

You could have to requisition supplies, which would be placed in convoys & sent to you, and you could have the option of hiring mercenaries to escort it or fly escort yourself, or you could just Pirate supplies of the Kilrathi. :D

You could also recieve Secret 'Black Ops' missions from Admiral Tolywn, like recons or rescue prisoner missions, with benefits if you suceed, (like an new  "Ace" pilot if you rescue him)

Thats it for ideas at the moment

Yeah, alot of that did happen in wing 4. but, there are some god ideas in there. Perhaps a WC game like Falcon 4. That, would be cool.

the problem with Falcon 4.0 is that I never have the patience to read through that humongous friggin' book! :)

Perhaps you should pass over getting a computer upgrade and get an attention span instead. ;)

90percent of that book was "how to fly an f--16 for real, and do a bunch of crazy ass manuevers". All the important stuff was in the first few pages. And, thats why they have key refence sheets.

And, will you listen to the ugly Pug? ;)
I mean reading is good, i do it a lot, even some things that aren't realated to WC.

Reading, you should try it sometime! ;) Start out with the WC novels, and then wean yourself off of them to something close to WC, and then, when youre ready, feel free to explore the universe of Books!!! ;)

j/k
