Mission 9

Sylvester

Vice Admiral
I just downloaded UE and am very impressed. My question is-is the Avenger in mission 9 that you escort from the Venice jump point invincible?

Actually, I wonder how difficult the mission would be if it wasn't... strictly speaking, it probably wouldn't be much harder. The reason why it was actually made invincible was just to ensure that there was no need to account for its death/non-death in the fiction.

And, the best part is, even if you screw up and run afowl of that entire slew of squids, you can leave the Avenger and Vampire in your dust as you book it back to the Dauntless. They'll both survive (well . . the vampire *probably* will).

Then, just finish off the crowd at the dauntless and land. Easy.

2 questions:

1) do the squids keep coming forever? or do they stop sometime?

2) how far away do you have to get for the autopilot light to come on?

1) Yes. You are supposed to auto out before the first Squid appeares...
2) Dunno. 100000 or so I think?

This isn't WC1/2, you can't just autopilot at a given range :p. As long as you've got enemy ships on radar, your autopilot is disabled (except when we say otherwise).

But, like WC1/2, if you get far enough away from the nav point where they're supposed to be, they will dissappear, and you can autopilot at your leisure. It's somewhere between nav 1 and 2 that they finally vanish.

Hey, Quarto, exactly how long DO you have before the ships at nav 1 get a signal off? I've never been able to pull that one off.

I think 30 seconds... the trick is to order your wingmen to kill one Moray, quickly kill the other one yourself, and only then go after the Ray. Otherwise, your wingmen get distracted by the Remoras.

No. Remoras are unman... err, unbugged drones, so we figured they probably wouldn't have long-range comm equipment.
