Making the Game - Part 11 (May 17, 2008)

Bandit LOAF

Long Live the Confederation!
We are going to round out May, 1996 with four more Component Manager Meeting agends. This one is May 10th. I'd love to know more about the Confederation destroyer 'test' the Production Designer has been working on through several of these reports - especially since the finished game had no human warships other than the Midway. Another interesting fact? An early title for the 'Kilrathi Saga' project was 'Kilrathi Wars'...

I wonder if the Destroyer Test has any connection with the WC3 ship files in the WCSO game. IIRC there is a WC3CRUSR, WC3CV, and a WC3DSTRY - but I think only the WC3CV works, and it comes in as a Vesuvius-class, not as a WC3 Carrier.

Aside from the CV which appears (I believe) in the losing path, the other ships (I believe) are unused and unusable in WCP/SO, yet the files are still there.

Oh yes - I vaguely remember having a conversation similar to this before. That certainly explains the switch to the WC3CV as the Vesuvius and the WC3CRUSR as the Plunkett.

Out of curiosity, do we know when in the design process that switchover occurred?

EDIT:

That was another question I was going to ask - when they said miniatures did that mean that in a generic sense of the word, or did they actually have some WC Miniatures for use?
