Hi

I haev 4 questions about Kirathi Saga

1. Has it got more stuff more features then the original

2.Where can i buy it from or will they re-realease

3.Is it easier to install to windows?

4.People who have KS how do you think it fares up?

Thanks
Luke

1.) Inside the box it has a bunch of fun stuff like a calender and a neat spiral handbook. The game it's self only boasts a remastered soundtrack, I believe.

2.) Ebay is your only bet. It sold poorly and there's no plan for a re-release.

3.) KS was made to be Win95 compatible, so, yes.

4.) Most people say you're better off getting the original games and an old 486 considering how expensive KS goes for.

The first run of Kilrathi Saga had the handbook in the normal stapled binding, actually - I have one. The calendar's about the same size, though. They also changed WC1 and WC2 to allow the use of 'virtual cockpits' (removing the struts and hand) in the same way you could do WC3 and WC4, IIRC.

It sold well enough the first time to have a second run. :D They just didn't make all that many of them, at least not compared to say, WCP or WCP:Gold.

If you got it early, it wasn't expensive at all. The main additions to KS was the installer, the Windows support, and the frame limiter, IIRC. Not that it helps much with modern computers...

KS also, of course, allowed you to get SM1 & 2 and SO1 & 2 for free. And, it allowed you to transfer your games, starting from WC1, all the way to SO2. Too bad you couldn't carry your kill count into WC3.

KS also came with a few teaser movies for other titles, as well as its own nifty intro movie.

I can't get WC4 to work on my machine. I have XP, and XP hates dos games with such a passion. Even the 95 patch doesn't really work for me . . . maybe I'll go cruise the tech help section to see if that's been touched on.

How 'boutcha dual-boot with a DOS or Win9x installation on yer HDD?...
Just use XOSL (xosl.org; free) to hide your WinXP partition...

1. Besides manual and stuff it has digitized sound in WC1 and WC2. Depending on your hardware this can actually sound worse then the original.
Also you can disable the cockpits in Wc1&Wc2 and it has rudder support in WC3 IIRC.
2. It was already rereleased. E-bay is your only bet nowadays.
3. Wc1 yes. Wc2 and Wc3 I'd say no. Generally KS has less problems, but if you got one they are harder to fix if at all. For Wc1 I'd still say yes, but only because the original wasn't speed limited.
4. I like the originals more because I don't like the digitized music even if it is supposed to sound bette on my hardware. Also at least SO2 is graphically superior in the DOS version and SM2 has a couple of bugs as well.

I got Saga of Ebay a few weeks a go to complete my collection. cost me £120, maybe nearly $200.

one thing that annoys me is the jerkiness of wing 2 when playing with keyboard, i never was good with a joystick. Is there any way to correct this that anyone knows of??

It's kinda like playing your old NES or Atari 2600 (if you're lucky enough to have one that still works . . my Atari 2600 doesn't :(). Playing an old game on its original platform is sweet.

I fully agree, I enjoy playing all the originals. My 286 bit the dust some time ago so saga on the newbie is great for WC1 and WC3 sounds better. 2 is a bit pants. all jerky like i said before. Anyone know if SAGA SM2 savegames can be transfered into the original WC2??

Excuse me whilst I go and play super mario land on my grey housebrick gameboy
