I'm trying to set up a logical comparison, not a flamewar. Hopefully someone could get some good damage calcs for both universes. Besides, there's not really very many WC players on Spacebattles.

My guess is that FreeSpace ships are superior to WC1/2 era ships, but are weaker than WC3/4/Prophecy ships. The platesteel and more powerful weaponry and shields are an incredible leap of technology.

Don't worry - no one is going to ban you for starting this thread... you had good intentions, but these things get stupid.

I think the general consensus is that WC gets a huge advantage - by the nature of its physics, Wing Commander ships out-speed and out-range Freespace craft by several orders of magnitude... so there's never a situation where Freespace fighters would be able to hit Wing craft.

You're free to use these in whatever vs whatever you want - I've yet to find a really even-matched hypothetical that doesn't descend into arithemetical ego-stroking and chest-pounding.
