this is a stupid question but is priviteer a wing commander game or something else and are any new wing commander games coming out on the pc any time soon.
 
Privateer is a game set in the Wing Commander universe. It's not part of the main plot (as in you aren't the same character as in WC 1, 2, 3 and 4) but yes, it is a Wing Commander game.

And beyond the lovely mods being worked on by dedicated fans, it doesn't look like we'll get another official game for a very long time (if ever).
 
Your best bet is to go here
