Help with escort misions in WC1

Spaceman
I'm playing this game for the first time and i don't understand how this misions work. I protect the ship and wait for them getting to the Tiger Claw. All ok for now.

But when they reach this the escorted ship just turn around and go away...

¿Why? I have lost the McAuliffe 3 because of this and now i'm playing Brimstome 2 and its the same. ¿Its because of the damage or something like this?
¿Or a bug?
I have escorted the Exeter destroyer like 150.000 of Tiger's Claw... but it nevers disappear os something like that--

Sorry for my english...if you don't understand something just ask.

pd: really great game, the thing i like more is the different pilot's and bar concepts...

When escorting a ship away from the Claw, or just to a nav point, you need to ensure they jump before landing, or they'll be counted as lost. This is why WC1 has an asteroid field on at least one escort mission, one you'll only pass through after escorting the transport- to ensure enough time elapses that you don't lose credit.

When escorting a ship TO the claw, you shouldn't have any problems, so long as you use autopilot to return there to ensure that the ship arrives at the same time you do. Manual escorting might put you there ahead of them... and if you're 150,000 meters out, you're too far away.

Hopefully that helps... I'm not entirely sure I understand what you're asking.

And make sure that you linked up with the ship you have to escort by flying close to it (I think you have to do this in WC 1 as well; you should get a radio message à la "Glad to see you, sir!") and as Max wrote, use the Autopilot. Sounds like a strange problem.

Good luck!

same problem here I think.
In Brimstone 2 I rendezvous with the exeter, and after shooting down all enemies we go side on side back to the tigerclaw but when we're like 6000 km ahead of it, the exeter decide's to take a turn and flies straight in direction asteroid field.

I wait in front of the tiger's claw but can't chat with it to request landing, even if I'm 1000km directly in front of it. Happened to me now 3 times in a row. Sometimes it said "wait for exeter" when I was near the tclaw, but I did escort that damn ship all the way through the galaxy, what can I do if it suddenly decide's to take a turn.
Only once I could land, and me being like "yay!" the commander suddenly say's "I wish you hadn't lost the exeter". Guess it took a dive to deep into the asteroid field ~~~.

Fly close to it, if needed set you navigation to the claw's landing point, and the while fling next to the freighter, re-engage autopilot, if the sip follows you, land directly, if it does not follow, reset nav to the ships location, form up and repeat unil it does follow you.
