Harder to do pltline in WCU

I'm playing through the plotline right now and I'm running Brillance for Tayla. ( 3rd or 4th mission).

In privateer alone, I would have to outrun a Talon and if it got a few shots in, no problems.

But in WCU, the militia has Epees, Ferrets and whatnot in full afterburner shooting at me. Can't outrun them, can't fight back ! (Or I'll targetted wherever I go)

Any suggestions ?

Well, it IS an expanded universe.... :p Seriously though, I guess that I could set it so that the new ships only show up after the first plotline is over. Problem is, right now I'm testing ship/ship balance so I need them around... Fight them and let me know fi they are too easy/hard please!

Milspec vs. Tarsus, I flippin hope the milspec wins. It seems like there should be some way to dodge the cops other than run or kill, though. Lesson #1: don't run Brilliance with subpar equipment?

Also, are relations changed by # of shots hitting the target, or by the # of kills? If kills change relations, use Autoslide, turn around, and tap the fools with lasers while they try to tag you. Not too safe, and time consuming, but it'll get you farther on in the game...

If you want to play the plot, playing the remake is preferable. I think the plot in WCU is vestigial..

Relations go bad when the hull starts taking damage -- shield hits aren't counted.
Mostly true (assuming you haven't changed this aspect ;) ). If you pound away at shields for long enough, people will get fed up with you. As it is though, at least they won't turn on you for an accidental stray shot (or 10).

Well, I've had no real problems...
Of course, I didn't start the missions until I had a better ship(s).
For Tayla's missions, I usually use a Demon (Escort), very little can catch it in ab.
A Centurion, with the rear turret on auto, ain't bad, either.
One trick, if you remember to use it, is to hit ab before you jump, and keep holding it 'til you dock.
