Game crash

I've recently downloaded both episodes and tried to play it but as soon as I click fly at the breifing and it starts to load I get an error message (on of those Illegal Operations messages!) Can someone help me?
p.s. My comp can play Secret Ops and Uknowen Enemy. It's an Pentium 3 (647Mhz) 128 Mb of Ram and has about 1Gb if Hard disk free.
P.s.If you need me to I'll give you a copy of the error message all you need to do is ask!

Yeah, please add more details. Error message, the settings you used (16-bits, 32-bits, 800x600 ?), video card, Windows version, etc.

The message says " This program has performed an Illegal Operation and will be shut down. If this problem presists, please contact...."etc etc etc.

When I clicked on details it said this!:

p.s. I'm runing on Windows 98!

Ohhh I forgot to mention I'm trying to play on 16bit coulour dept at a rsolution of 1024*768 (I have the other 2 options turned on with the 2 drag bar thingy in the middle! I have a 16 Mb 3DFX Voodoo3 3500 TV

Have you tried lower resolutions like 640x480 ? Have you installed the lastest version on DirectX available for your Windows version/compatible with your video card ? You said SO and UE works on your computer; are you running them in Glide mode or DirectX ?

lower resolution doesn't work, I run SO (as far as I know) and UE (I also run this on 1024*768) (which I do know) on glide as far as I know the latest DirectX compatiable with my video card is installed

It's definitly a DirectX issue. Standoff won't give you the option to run the game in Glide, that's why you could run both Secret Ops and Unknown Enemy (you set them to use Glide) but can't run Standoff.

Unfortunately, I don't have the same video card than you so I can't help you on DirectX versions and video drivers combinations. You can try finding information and drivers for your video card at http://www.voodoofiles.com/.

Not enough to run Standoff? Why, back in my days, we used 16MB cards not only to play Standoff, but to make it too! And we walked twenty kilometres in the snow to get them!

Certainly it was uphill both ways, but the sun wasn't hot, damn it... it was a cold, cold sun, you tried to move, but your legs were frozen.

(but, quite seriously, my point is that a 16MB card is sufficient to play Standoff - it might depend on the card, though)

It is enough... If you have a fast enough processor (more than 1 GHz, and not that Celeron crap), you can even run Standoff with one of those on-board video chips.

It has been my experience that the Secret Ops engine is far more CPU dependent than video dependent.

For example, it runs a lot better on an Athlon 64 3700+ with 448 MB of RAM with onboard GeForce 6100 than it does on an Athlon XP 2500+ with 512 MB of RAM with a GeForce FX5600 Ultra
