Galaxy's cousin from another series?

Seventh Part of the Seal
I got somewhat bored with always flying the Centurion so I traded it in for a fully loaded Galaxy (Stupid? Perhaps...)

While flying it... I must say does it remind anyone else of the transports from X-Wing Alliance? Or just SW in general? I'm not trying to start a stupid "Space Battles" thread, and I could care less about what could beat what.

All I am saying is that it has a very similar feel to the Falcon. An outboard com array, two turrets (top and bottom) small forward firing weapons platform, a smuggling hold, and can hold its own in a fight... fully loaded to me kinda reminds me of the "Special modifications" that allowed it to fly like a fighter, which this does, even though clearly it isn't. The big difference (minus that they look nothing alike) is that the pilot of the Galaxy sits on the left, where in the Falcon, he sits on the right.

That's the entire high concept behind Privateer - you're Han Solo to the main series' Luke Skywalker. I don't think the Galaxy really looks much like the Millenium Falcon, but it certainly fulfills the same role.

(And it reminds me of X-Wing Alliance because XWA *should* have been Star Wars Privateer instead of a second X-Wing game with odd trash-collecting features added in.)

Space Point

I did enjoy flying Galaxy (I mean, as far it is possible to enjoy flying in Privateer with its ugly physics).
Compared to all the other ships, she's slow. But it gives you a chance to aim carefully, for your ship doesn't jump up/down/left/right by 30 degrees, as it happens with Centurion.

Of course she was never ment to be a dogfighter, but ... it can be the one, if needed :)
So - no 'Galaxy gripes' thread, please :)

Remember when a Tarsus was on Babylon 5? We should probably get some nice images of it from the DVD.

oh man, SW Privateer with a nice modern graphics engine would rule
give it different time periods to play in, like Sid Meier's Pirates!, and it would be really sweet. Like ep 1-3 time frame or 4-6, or way earlier like KOTOR1&2

It really seemed like that was the original plan for Alliance, too.

I wonder what Larry Holland is doing these days. Still apologizing for Secret Weapons Over Normandy?

It would have been great if Harrison Ford had been cast as Grayson Burrows to push the whole Han Solo vs Luke Skywalker thing.

It was either hire Harrison Ford or buy another diamond-encrusted skull for Richard Garriott's diamond skull room.

... I'm probably not making that up.

Joe Garrity took some excellent photos of Brittania Manor recently, and it's amazing what's inside. There really are all kinds of crazy theme rooms - a magic room, an invention room, a skull room, etc.
