Ejection bashings

I guess it's funny to think how one gets a medal for ejecting in WC1, yet most of the others you get an earful, even from someone as 'lowly' as the ship's mechanic!

I was just thinking about it, though, the medal idea is probably more 'right.' If one assumes that everyone ejects only when absolutely necessary, if one ejects, we only lose the plane. If one does not eject, we lose not only the plane, but also the pilot, any experience/training/skill he/she might have, and morale.

Any thoughts on this?

Yes, well in the game, fine, but in 'reality' it's much better to lose the ship than the pilot or both.

Yeah, but in later WC games they also ramble about "how much the ships cost these days" etc. etc.

Now it's true, granted, that starfighters cost money, but it's very annoying to hear that some guy might be giving more importance to a couple pieces of metal fused together, than a human being... :)

The reason that you get a medal is because Kilrathi pilots suck!!!!
Since its very dificult to lose to a Kilrathi, you get a medal.
Even Terran scientists manage to capture a Kilrathi Marine platoon in WC I...

Yes... that's it... the Kilrathi suck, therefore we get medals. They suck so much that we can't defeat them in a clean war...

yea in WC3 I think the end total between all the pilots ends up being well about 2000, and that is in well under a year's worth of fighting. It is just that the cats can as dragon said afford their looses

We are trained to, but in an other way. We train in simulated battles, not in real combat.

But not just the cats are easy to defeated, the bugs are more easier.

Yes, that is true. When I count my Blair kills from all games together I shot down around 2300 enemies. And that in a 17 years career ( I know there are pauses between the games where Blair could have destroyed further Kilrathi, and the WCATV kills and so on are not counted, they are just for comparison). As Casey I killed in a couple of months about 2000 bugs. This is shows that although the Kilrathi already has inferior ships, the bugs are even worse.

(This was really not meant to be showing off, just to give the comparison.)

That, would be an understatement.

I would have to say the bugs were formidable. Especially when they come at you in great numbers. And those Devil Ray ships boast that Gorgon Heavy cannon that will rip you a new backside if youre not paying attention.

A Devil Ray is no match for a Vampire. These Gorgon Cannon are nothing more than (more or less) a Tachyon gun. And the Devil Ray only gets three of them against the four Tachyon from the Vampire. Plus the superior shields, you can take a Devil Ray head-on. The bug ships (except the Devil Ray) are really weak, even if they come in large numbers. And Devil Rays do not come in large numbers (the highest number of Devil Rays I encountered at once was four in SOPS).

That may be Mekt, but if you face off against 5 or more of those Devil Ray ships, your in for a good fight! Those Devil Rays have better yaw and pitch rates than the Vampire. Weapon wise, maybe a match there too. But facing 5 or more of them is a good challenge. Expect a few dings in the hull!! Team them up with a few Skate clusters and Mantas and your definately in for it! Hopefully the wingmen will stick to you and not run!
