Dream carrier

Thymerlord

Rear Admiral
Along the lines of the Kilrathi dreadnought and credits thread I started to wonder. If I could have any Confed Carrier updated with all the new bells and whistle which would I choose and what kind of fighters would I equip it with, providing they all had upgrades. Tell me what you think.

I always liked the concept of Strike Carriers that were able to hold their own in a cap ship battle, thus I'd go with the Tiger's Claw, now of course fitted with the newest anti cap ship guns and laser/missile turrets. equipped of course with the newest available fighters from the SOPS area, especially Black Wasps and Black Vampires, along with some Black Devastators.
Or the Concordia (from WC2), even though she's a dreadnought, equally fitted with the newest weapon technologies.

Concordia

I'll have to go with my ol' favorite- the Concordia. Wow, what a vessel! If I could spruce it up, I would take two Broadsword squadrons for strikes, five Hellcat squadrons for patrol, support and small-scale strikes, a Bearcat squadron for escort duty and two Thunderbolt squadrons for defense.

I'm not sure the Concordia can hold that much. If not, give me a Midway then... and give it the toughest in phase shielding.

I know, I'm very olskoo :D

I would have to say the Concordia as well with all of the apropriate upgrades. I would put Black Wasps, Black Vampires, Black Devastators, Excaliburs, and Dragons. Also some arrows just for the Hell of it, with the new cloak as well.

This may seem vague... but my dream carrier is one without Naismith as its comm officer. Heh...

I'd really love to have a small carrier where all the people are close and know how to work together, much like the Intrepid. Maybe something like Cerberus or something.

Logic Behind It

TBolts may not be nimble but they pack tons of firepower to drive away the fighters and torps to stop capitol ship aggression. Yay!

The trick is to kill the bombers before they release the torp.,so you send medium or light fighters. (Is this called Interception?)
not heavy fighters.

I dont think that there was an Omega in the WC universe. Thats B5.

the omega dreadnought is a black ops project mentioned in FA.

I would choose some carrier like the Vesuvius, it had heavy anti-cap weapons for a carrier (it had something like 16 AM guns, and then lots of anti fighter) equiped with Black Wasps, Dragons, Excaliburs, Black Vampires, and i guess black devestators, even though I hate em.

I would also improve it's shields to WCP time specs, ect.

Well Duh

What I was trying to say was that the TBolts could destroy all the fighter/bombers with their massive gun loadout and destroy a good number of capitol ships with their torps.

Hey, uh, how'd I make 1st Lieutenant so fast!? Didn't even notice 'til now....

That's Offence, not Defence.

For defence you need an interceptor that can engage and destroy enemy bombers before they get within firing range (relying on shooting down enemy torps is a bad move). The Wasp, with its Swarmers & Tachyons is a good example of this.

Enemy capships should NEVER get within range of your carrier, so carrying torps for defence is not a priority.

I'm a Genius

That's my ultimate defense. The offense of a lifetime. I am a mastermind. Just wait & see, when I'm a famous general....

:p
