Donnie Darko

Tis one of the best movies ever made. If you happen upon it, rent it, buy it, whatever. Everyone should see this movie!

It was a damn great movie but I don't think I "love" it as much as you do. :)

The website was also an excellent piece of design too I might add.

It's one of those really great movies that will ultimately be destroyed by some silly cult fanbase.

That's an odd view, coming from a WC fan.

I think the same of The Matrix. It was a good movie, but it wasn't the big deal that everyone made it out to be. It's popularity made me wince.

I never really understood how the Matrix got so popular. I didn't see it as a deep, thinker film at all. People hail it as this epic, imaginary piece when, in essence, it's a shoot 'em up. Add to the equation that Keanu Reeves is Ted "Theodore" Logan in every movie he does and *viola!* you get a mediocre- at best- movie.

I dunno. I liked the Matrix but mainly for the action sequences and special effects. Some neat plot twists were thrown in there but I didn't see them as extremely deep. Well, it didn't make me think. It also did not once make me question what "reality really is."

Agreed, but can this popularity really destroy the movie? Just because there is a bunch of people who are too loud in claiming the greatness of a movie doesn't make the movie itself any worse.

It definitely helps cheapen the underlying goodness in the film.

Donnie Darko was a good movie, patrick swayze was funny as hell in that movie.

as for the Matrix, it was a proof of concept movie, they didn't get to do everything they wanted as they were not promised the big money for the first movie. but that next 2 better be freakin sweet.
and while it was a shoot-em'-up, it had a plot, which if u had a general interest in computers/programing, was really cool.

but the best hacker movie was War Games.

Normally, I despise Patrick Swayze. However, from time to time, he plays some really challenging roles. He played a cross-dresser in To Wong Fu and now a pedophile/kiddie porn king. Seeing him tackle stuff like that makes it hard not to respect him.

Plus, he did kick ass in Red Dawn....
