Did Confed ever return to Repleetah?

Vice Admiral
After the war was over did Confed ever return to Repleetah? Is there any info about whether or not the any side in the battle actually began using the planet again after the war ended?

Why exactly would Confed want to return to Repleetah? The war wrecked the planet, would it be worth the effort to try to make it habitable again? How long would the clear up take? How many years?

Well I'm wondering because it's sort of central to the storyline I'm working on. And If Confed, or the Border Worlds, are still using the planet then it might not work.

Even if the BW lay claim to it, would they be doing anything on it? Would they just class it as a dead planet?

Well, I can't think of any reference to Repleetah in either the game, manuals, or books after Dekker's aside in Prophecy when he says this is the bloodiest fighting he's seen since his Repleetah days.

However, and I'm trying to say this as sensitively as I can, postwar periods tend to be monument building periods. Go to Gettysburg, the beaches of Normandy, Hastings, Saratoga, and the Alamo; all sites of major battles that are now huge monuments to the deceased. Particularely Normandy where there are fields of graves that stretch out as far as the eye can see.

Now I don't remember the exact death toll at Repleetah, but it was supposedly pretty darn high. It would seem to me that as soon as it was judged safe to move in, there would be someone, whether from Confed, Border Worlds, Kilrathi(I doubt that), or just some private citizens, who would want to build some sort of memorial to those who died at Repleetah.

Weren't there scientists initially posted at Repleetah? They may have been researching something specific to the planet.

Of course, the war probalbly destroyed anything worth studying.

[And that "bloodiest fighting since Repleetah" quote sounds more like Wilford in WC4 regarding Circe.

Initially there were actual colonies there... and after the first battle, scientists.

(Much like McAuliffe....)

But it is said in the WC3 Manual that the Kilrathis initially destroyed the scientist complex on Repleetah... that means that there were already scientist on the planet before the first battle. And why the hell did they attacked it ? There were only peaceful scientists according to the manual...

The Kilrathi showed no remorse :) Sorry couldn't resist. Seriously, I don't have the WCIII manual here at the office, but as I recall, there were both Human and Kilrathi scientists on the planet before war was declared. Sort of a scientific retreat for folks from all races. They tried to work together after the war started (or at least the humans tried, my memory is fuzzy) Then the Cats wiped the place out with bio-weapons, which is what devestates the planet. However both sides ground forces continue fighting (in biohazrad suits, iirc) for something like 10 years. Neither side commited space forces which would have decisively won the battle.

The Kilrathi percieved the human scientists as some sort of threat. They know what their scientists are working on, so they would probably assume the worst of the humans. I have wondered if the human scientists were making headway with the Kilrathi scientists to come to a truce. In their warrior culture I can only imagine that scientists would get the nerd stereotype even worse than in ours, and might actually be open to that idea, since the probably did not feel welcome at home. I could envision a scenario where the Kilrathi scholars there are open to the truce, and the Kilrathi military folks see that as a threat. The Kilrathi military forces use the bioweapons to kill not only the human scientists, but the Kilrathi as well, since that kind of independent thinking on the part of a Kilrathi can be dangerous to the Empire.

Well the story I'm working on deals with a group of scientists trying to genetically engineer Kilrathi to replace the the Emperor and Prince Thrakhath, as well as some high ranking officers in the military, in an effort to end the war under terms which Confed can control. But at some point things go haywire and clandestine nature of the project sort of leaves the genetically enigneered Cats to their own devices and they begin to flourish in the underground base.
I'm still forming the storyline for an SO game, while I learn how to create new ships. So I thought it would be a good time to ask in case I need to change stuff around to make it fit in.:D

The Kilrathi showed no remorse :)

Of course ;)

That was I thought... even if we can see Marines fighting on Repleetah in WCATV without suits...

Maybe by the time of that epsiode they had inoculations. I can't say for certain they fought in bio-suits. I thought I had read that somewhere, but that doesn't mean a whole lot. I don't remeber the dates for Repleetah, I just remeber it was at least a decade long, and in the end no one was believed to have survived.

In the WC4 novel, Blair comments the friction between Repleetah survivors and Space Forces officers because of the decision by a Space Forces commander to pull out leaving the marines high and dry.

I think that is pretty much the point of the Repleetah conflict - the planet and the troops were abandoned by both sides, when they could have easily been victorious had they brought in some spacial forces.

That's what made Repleetah so infamous - that neither side committed a space attack made the war go on until the ground forces wiped each other out. If one side did commit space forces, then we wouldn't be talking about Repleetah - no doubt there must have been hundred of ground battles during the war, marines were mentioned several times in both the Vega and Enigma campaigns.
