Deneb Sector?

On the WCPedia, the Deneb Sector is listed as an article in the WC universe. From what I've seen and heard, there is no such sector. Deneb was conquered off-screen in WC2 Special Operations 2, and if I am correct, Deneb is listed as a QUADRANT of the Epsilon Sector, where most of WC2 took place. I know I may be relying on the CIC's universe maps a lot as a source and have been warned about some of its inaccuracies, but I am sure the Deneb SECTOR is non-existent.

Throughout the original games, the quadrants were often misidentified as sectors. It happened to the Antares Quadrant in WC1 Secret Missions 2, where at the end it was called a sector.

I don't why this keeps happening. Can we please clear this confusion up once and for all?
 
Proxima Centauri is listed as being in the Deneb sector by the Deneb article, yet the WCPedia page for Proxima says it exists in Sol sector, which is consistent with Proxima being the site of the last stand on the losing track of WC3 before you're forced to lose the second battle of Earth.

I'm no expert, but personally I'm pretty sure that you're right about there being no Deneb sector, especially since that would mean that at the end of SO2, when Thrakhath says they've conquered Deneb, they were sitting on earth's doorstep.... and there's no way they got that far at that point.
 
Woah there, folks -- time goes in a straight line.

The Deneb Sector was the second 'sector' introduced in Wing Commander's continuity. It's where The Secret Missions took place and then was later used in the Special Operation 1 mission disk for Wing Commander II (the 'twist ending' is that Thrakhath captured the entire Deneb Sector while the Concordia was busy protecting Ghorah Khar).

Antares was the third sector, the home of the Firekkans in Secret Missions 2 (and then it was followed by Enigma and then Gemini). You have to understand that these five sectors *were* the known Wing Commander universe for seven years before there was a Universe Map...

When Captain Johnny created the Universe Map for Wing Commander Prophecy he put Deneb and Antares together with some other assorted references as the 'Epsilon Sector'. We've been ribbing him about this ever since -- some people reacted poorly to Deneb's seeming importance being reduced (Antares was never mentioned beyond SM2). :)
 
You know, I almost closed out of that tab rather than hit reply, thinking to myself "nah, just wait for the LOAF response." Should've listened to that instinct...
 
Heh, I think about that every time I see a question on the forum. I could open my mouth, but really, what could I add that the LOAF could not? :D
