Never even heard of it, whats it about?

this is the synopsis from ABC.com

Four women and four men hurtle through space with nothing to do for six years and eight billion miles, except maybe solve a powerful and awesome mystery. Maybe, just maybe, some of them will even hook up. How cool is that?

Defying Gravity is a sexy, provocative thriller set in the very near future against the backdrop of our solar system, in which the eight astronauts from five countries undertake a mysterious six-year international space mission on the spaceship Antares.

They can’t run from karma, however, as their past actions reveal intimate and interconnected relationships that have a strange effect on the present. As the astronauts travel towards Venus, we travel into their past with flashbacks to earlier years from the grueling selection and training process. What could have happened?

Maybe there is something to this fate thing after all.

It is difficult to admit, but I have been watching this... and it isn't as awful as it sounds.

Big aspects of it are, indeed, Grey's Anatomy in Space... but the folks behind the show are clearly having a lot of fun with it beyond staying inside the lines of that particular network guideline. The production style reminds me a little bit of Space: Above and Beyond (the general lavishness-of-reality-in-odd-places) and it stars Ron Livingston, who makes everything great.

The overarching mystery that they're starting to hint at now seems Freespaceishly dumb, though.

I think I caught a few minutes of this the other day but the soap opera-ishness of it turned me off... seing spacesuits tempted me to keep it on, but I wasn't the only one watching it at the time.

Thus far, anyway, the soap opera stuff has had a nice slight hint of Forever War-ish this-is-how-people-are-about-sex-in-the-near-future to it.

Really? I'll have to check it out now. Ron is the man.

Someone needs to take advantage of Mad Man-mania and how great Band of Brothers was by having Ron Livingston's character's ADVENTURES IN THE 1950s.

I gave it a try, not at fan.
Because of course when you have a professional highly educated and dedicated team of specialists embarking on an important mission that may very well affect all of humanity, everybody would sleep with everybody.

:)

well i am a fan, just watched the latest episode online.

Way to go Ron...this if not Office Space in space...

Do they have STDs in the future? Because somehow with every male Dr. going after 1 female nurse, 2 drs sleeping with patients, pretty much everyone sleeping with Grey, and no one sleeping with the Chief (surprisingly), All in one season, its a wonder syphilis was the only thing passed around in Grey's.

... yes my live-in g/f has absolute clicker authority after a certain hour...
