Civi voices in Ep 5

Seventh Part of the Seal
Everyone has negative criticism so consider this mine... and please do no take this the wrong way. I love the game and how it came out. You guys did a lot of incredible work and it will be one i hang on to and continuously replay. I simply feel that it is something that has to be said, especially since this is my favorite mission in the entire game... save one problem.

I know this has been brought up before but... the voice overs seem to be mixed up. I hear 5 or 6 civilians calmly say "I can't hold her, I'm going down..." or "My ships a..."

Meanwhile you have trained Confed pilots coms going "Oh no... AAAIIIIIIEEEE!!!!" or in a paniced voice, "Can't hold her, hull breach...."

If you guys consider changing anything... the Civilian voices should definitely be a bit more paniced. Something like Dallas' voice in WCP "Oh damn... Oh damn... NOOOOOO!!!!"

Or some others... just something a little more paniced or emotional. It would be a perfect mission if you actually felt bad seeing the civilians get massacred. The part where Bradshaw says, "Those poor Bastards are getting slaughtered, hurry up!" definitely helps that, but nothing else really does. Anyway, rant over, it's just a thought.

Well.. you are probably right, the mission would probably gain something if the civilians were more scared of dying and such. Be that as it may, this is definitely not something we're going to change. Standoff is finished, all we're doing now is fixing bugs.

(...ok, ok, and finishing off the sim missions)

One thing I would mention...is how hard it can be to get a good voiceover. I know you are commenting on at least one of my lines "My ship's a wreck." While recording it I tried to sound scared and concerned, however trying to do that and not record poor (being too loud and causing pops, too far away and sounding strange, etc) quality clips is hard. You have to remember that most of us are using $2 microphones, so obtaining good quality clips requires staying within a fine window otherwise the quality plummets....

That being said, we perhaps could have pushed for more desperate sounding VOs, but I think the ones that are in there work fairly well.

I thought Standoff's voiceovers were pretty good on the whole, and your line especially sounds like somebody in dire straits trying to get their death comm out before burning up.

Wasn't as keen on the new Kilrathi voices, that's meant with no disrespect to the people that did them - the WC3 Kat voices were studio quality, and hard to match I'd think.

I kinda like Chaos and confusion in the coms :) .....As if it's your last day to exist :D
There's a few i dislike and a few I like...but eh it's already done so why go back ya know

maybe they were drinking before going out there? I know I woulda have been. I dont think they really expected to survive.

Well....

If a poor little trainee girl gets blown up and is not as hardened by the war as Angel was, she's gonna scream when she dies.

Still, the High-As-A-Kite hippie tarsus captain's death is funnier:

"Hey man, what's that blinking red light mean man? Aw crap!"

I was thinking that too...maybe he was a hippie....I mean we can't really judge there could be many reasons.... Maybe that's the way certain civilians from certain systems act...I mean it's a big Wing Commander universe right?

Thats one I definitely wouldn't change... although I lost the mission first time out due to laughing so hard and losing composeur.

Seriously, the only line that was funnier was the Concordia's escort com when they blew up, "We are going kablewy!!"
