Wing Commander was, IIRC, one of the (if not *the*) last DIVX movies. The DIVX version is, appropriately, pan and scan. 
I don't think anybody is marketing D-VHS as the future of anything -- it's just something for enthusiasts to play with. (And, as I said earlier, it'd be great to get a HD recording of the Wing Commander movie whenever HBO reruns it...).
