actually he made squadcommander in wing commander 4, but on his first flight out he got one of his squadmembers shot out of the sky when they charged a nephilim wing "the maniac way"....

That was on WCP.

Yes the Concordia was a top of the line Flagship, What do you think the Midway was? A lumbering Giant made to scare people? I understand she was too new to become the flagship, but Im pretty sure that ship woulda found its way to the advanced guard.

I can´t see your point here. Blair wasn´t on the Midway flight roster. And the only Colonel who was (AFAIK) was Hawk, who was a Squadron commander.

They had a CAG there as "Wing Commander".

Between WC2 and 3 Blair spend much time in Secret Ops, under Paladin.

Ok, look, there were THREE Colonels on the BWS Intrepid. and if you really need the specifics, i was talking about the time between Secret Opps 2 and WC3... jeebs! You know like the Battle of Earth and some of the other things.

The Intrepid thing was THE *unique and one-of-a-kind situation*.

About the time between SO2 and WC3, I repost my post:

"That was on the TCS Concordia, the Terran flagship, loaded with aces. A one of a kind situation, I guess. You don´t see many pilot colonels in the same ship in WC."

Ralgha wasn´t flying when Blair got there. He was Eisen´s second-in-command. Blair was the Wing Commander of the Victory and only after his request Hobbes was put into the flight roster.

But, again, that was also a special situation. Tolwyn loaded the Victory with ace pilots because he wanted it to escort the Behemoth later. That´s why Blair (and Hobbes, and Maniac....) was assigned to such an old ship.

And I didn´t say that colonel pilots CAN´T coexist on the same ship. It is only not a common thing, since such high ranked people usually command a wing.

Had Angel survived, you think SHE would have been assigned there?

That said, the Calendar that comes with WCKS clearly gives Blair's birthday. I don't have it with me here at work, but I think I have it at the house.

It gives only the 'day' (.168 - June 17th) and not the actual year. Still -- 2630.

if blair was 51, maniac should be about thesame age?

Maniac was about a year younger (born in 2631).

can't imagine a 51-year old with an attitude of "the maniac", or flying with a frontline squadron?

All of the Prophecy literature indicates that Maniac is in the process of retiring from active duty circa Prophecy (and Secret Ops' fiction indicates he's off the flight line as of that game). Still, Maniac is Wing Commander's Chuck Yeager - very literally - and he kept flying for many many years.

in the prophecy manual he sended a letter to blair, and he was still involved in confed(senator?) how old was paladin then in prophecy? 80/90 years old?

Paladin was born in 2605 - which means that he's 76 years old in Prophecy.

You can be a colonel w/o being a wing or squadron commander! How long was Blair a Colonel on the Concordia under Angel?

Two weeks. Blair was promoted (back) to Colonel on 2667.077 and then transferred to Special Operations on 2667.091.

Angel was transferred to Covert Operations - Blair spent the 'novel' years as the Concordia's Wing Commander.

Ok, and whats your explanation of the Victory? A small backwater carrier w/ COLONEL Ralga and Colonel Blair

Tolwyn personally assigned both Ralgha and Blair to the Victory because he planned to use it as his flagship during the Behemoth operation.

Isn't Hobbes only a Lt. Colonel and not a full bird in WC3? I thought I remembered reading that somewhere

BTW, I always considered maniac's "promotion before defecting" a joke Blair made to annoy Todd. It surelly worked. Why the hell would anyone promote him to Colonel anyway.

I think Blair is a very interesting character. Even though he was always described as a by-the-book pilot (albeit an extremely talented one), he's decisions are not by the book at all! Consider how he always do impulsive stuff in the games, like going after the base in WC2's end, taking the Excall for a ride, accepting Flash's challenge, and so on. WC4 is nothing but this kind of attitude, and so is WCP. I really like the character... Maniac may be the "hot dog", but he's quite "timid" in his actions and decisions. he's actually a follower. He only defected by following Blair...

Agree. who would liked to serve under a wing, that is under "maniac's" commando? not me!

Actually, Maniac defected BEFORE Blair did, since he was the one who piloted Eisen's shuttle to the Intrepid. But I totally agree on the Blair/Hawk dying thing, it sucked! WHEN they have to die at all, then in an appropriate way, and not eaten by a bug! We're not playing Starship Troopers, after all! It really ruined the game (even more), so I decided to not see it as an official part of the WC series...more as kind of a madman's work! :D

What do you mean Ruined the game EVEN MORE? Prophecy was a decent enough game, the Panther fighters remain at the top of my list, I love em. I just didnt like seeing some of the main characters get killed, usually its only one or two, but here Dallas, Hawk, AND BLAIR!? I partially expected either Decker or Maniac to go up

But wait a second.......

Wasn't Hobbes a full colonel in WC2. I remember him wearing full eagles at the poker game. Did he get demoted come WC3?

And Maniac is in no way like General Charles E. Yeager.

Yeager, even though he raised hell while being in the Air Force, always looked out for his men and his friends first, unlike our Maniac. He also wasn't a hot dog, sure he flew very well, but he didn't go out of the way to show off. And Yeager never was demoted once in his career. I know, I have his autobiography.

He became an ace in a day, as did many other pilots, because he was an excellent shot and a cool head.

I found this site which lists only p-51 aces in a day (couldn't find any for any other fighters) it lists 19 pilots as having done the deed...

Okay okay, as a flight sim, it was really very decent, I have to admit that...but after playing The Price of Freedom and expecting a game that might even excel its storytelling qualities, I was very disappointed of Prophecy...you really notice the absence of Chris Roberts, but unfortunately, back then I didn't know he hadn't done Prophecy, so I bought it with very high expectations and was sad when those were not fulfilled. The flying part is very good, but in terms of storytelling, I found it miserably bad. This might not be everybody's opinion, and of course I respect that, but for me WC has always been about great involving stories, thus Prophecy is not really part of the series to me.
