A question about Shok'lars

Are shok'lars upgraded Salthis? Is there anything that ties the ships together besides Privateer's Salthis looking like Shok'lars?
 
There is not.

The model is actually the Super Wing Commander Salthi... which later became the Righteous Fire Salthi and then the Armada Shok'lar. There's no stated connection between the ships (although Armada does *mention* Salthi in an odd way - Voices of War mentions a ship being torpedoed by them...). The Salthi/Shok'lar model also appeared in Ultima Online once... sort of.
