i have been playing the remake for some time now, and really like what has been done with the Gemini Gold version, except for the res.

i like the purist aspect, but would like 1024x768. is there anyway to enable it?
or any plan to add higher res back in future versions?

It's not recommended. Open the vegastrike.config change the line that says:
"#cat Resolution 800x600 640x480 512x384" to
"#cat Resolution 1024x768 800x600 640x480 512x384"
save the file open setup select 1024x768 and start the game. The font will be a little bit small now.

Future plans are to support a higher resolution when it's possible to increase the font size as well but for now 800x600 should be fine.
