I also had that problem with that read error and the "wonga = 13500 credits" when using VDMS to play Privateer 2. I couldnt solve it but heard it could be overcome by using another method of adressing the cdrom (IOCTL). I then tried to play it with the DOS2Windows Patch. That worked for me...
