The problem may be that the autoguns are meant to handle point-defence against torpedoes, which have predictable flight paths, unlike fighters, which certainly don't fly in predictable paths.
That depends on whether the point-defence autosystems were turned on, and whether they were configured for engaging targets that appeared out of nowhere. :)
Ah. *curses Amazom for not delivering the WCIVN quicker*
Unfortunately, AS is one of the novel I presently lack.
True. Mjollnir's probably carrying more normal Landreich planes now.
Tolwyn mentions the "dreadnaught-class" battleship under construction on the far side of the Confederation (Fleet Action, page 294). I thought that referred to the Behemoth.
I see. So they're using the same basic fighters as Confed c. WC3/4?
Yeah. They've got everything from modded Ferrets and corvettes to pre-war fighters (Hunter spots some of the latter in Fleet Action), as well as their share of Kilrathi planes.
Yeah, I realised that not long after making that post. I thought dacis was asking about the FRLN, not the UBW. :p
And IIRC the UBW uses the newer WC3 era fighters, whereas the Landreich are using ships that're WC1/2 era, mostly.
They've got everything from Scimitars to Kilrathi Vaktoth heavy fighters, plus a fair few Raptors, Hornets, Rapiers and so on.
IOW, if Confed's not using it, Max Kruger's bought it. :D
