Starflight's Not Like Wing Commander (July 12, 2019)

Oh yeah, sure, it's all about you, not the main EA sci-fi franchises from the early 1990s that ported to any platforms that could handle them. 🤪

Starflight's Not Like Wing Commander (July 12, 2019)

Well wasn't THAT needless provocative! He didn't even show a single screenshot of either game. Ah well, my minute of outrage has passed.

    Wing Commander on Android

I second this. It's very sandboxy, in a good way -- it's very open-ended, with a lot of freedom. The iOS version was just updated to work on the big screen via AppleTV, and your progress is saved across all devices via iCloud. I wouldn't be surprised if the developer does an Android TV version...

Origin's Space Rogue Added To GOG Lineup (November 25, 2016)

Aww yeah. I remember trying this out on my Mac almost thirty years ago...and being immediately turned off by the crude DOS graphics, which were a gross thing to have in Mac ports st the time. I like to think I've acquired a taste for this style and should be able to give this a try. I've thought...

Hey guys, please try my game: Stellar Wanderer

Sweet. I hadn't noticed, but I will use that. iOS 10 on AppleTV will allow you to require use of the controller, which is a good thing, as the Siri Remote is lousy for games! I hope you get lots of sales from the price drop. I noticed that Touch Arcade featured your game when they mentioned...

Hey guys, please try my game: Stellar Wanderer

I really like this game. Good controls, and just enough complexity to be interesting. My only wish would be for iCloud saves so I could go between iPhone and iPad, and maybe Appletv someday.

Wing Commander Meets '80s Cartoon in iOS Sim (October 4, 2014)

Thanks for the tip! I never would have found or tried this on my own. Some of the reviews are a little harsh on the gameplay, but that's Wing Commander, too. This looks to be dripping with style and totally worth four bucks.

    Alternate WC3 credits?

    Truly hilarious time capsule stuff!

    Wing Commander on Android

Touch controls are okay if you let yourself adjust to them, particularly on a big tablet. Gyro controls are about as accurate as the old analog joysticks of the olden days, which is nice for smaller devices like smartphones. Hardware thumb sticks are nice too, but the short throw isn't quite as...

    Wing Commander on Android

Dosbox Turbo is great for Wing Commander as well as TIE Fighter, particularly on the Shield. You know what works well too? Sega CD Wing Commander via MD.EMU because of the simplified controls. This works nicely on OUYA too.

    Wing Commander Source Code

This is the best thing I have read all day. The fact that it is in Norwenglish is the best. :-) So EA is the decision maker. That's good to know. Torches and pitchforks, anyone?

    Wing Commander Source Code

Yeah, I know this is a very old thread, and that I'm a very weird lurker. Anyway, I found this thread while searching for "wing commander source code." I've been playing with Jedi Outcast on my Nvidia Shield (Android portable with nice controls) and it is AMAZING to see it on that hardware. The...

    Wing Commander MUSH

Looks nice. I'll need to tweak the settings to something I can read with my elderly eyes (navy on black is a bad combo) but I'm glad this is out there. Might even play a little bit via iPhone on MUDrammer.

Galaxy on Fire 2 HD Temporarily Free (February 11, 2013)

Whistler -- it's free on Android, too. Grab it now. Easily my favorite game of its kind.

Breaking: New Chris Roberts Game Announced! (October 10, 2012)

What I liked: sense of scale, dynamic thrust model on the ships. Neat. What I didn't like: Roberts' defensive crouch, talking about "gamers like myself" and being "sad and angry that PC gamers get no respect," and the bashing of console, mobile, and casual gaming. You'd think a pompous throttle...

Consider Copious Console Choices (July 5, 2010)

It's been a while since I've played any of them, but the 3DO is notable for its playability. Call it "arcade" but to have quality full-motion video AND instantaneous loading to the action makes this a lot better than the Playstation versions to me. The SNES and Sega CD editions were a bit too...

BREAKING NEWS: Wing Commander IV on PSN! (December 23, 2009)

The PSN store keeps a list of everything you've ever bought, and you can re-download them again whenever you want. The files themselves can be copied, but they're tied to the account owner. If you bought a new system, you would just need to activate it with your account credentials to play the...

BREAKING NEWS: Wing Commander IV on PSN! (December 23, 2009)

I hope this sells. I've talked it up to everyone I know. :-) Apart from any financial/political wrangling between EA and Sony, there are very few technical barriers to putting PSone games on the PSN store. Know what I'd like to see next? 1. EA Replay on the PSN store for download. The...

BREAKING NEWS: Wing Commander IV on PSN! (December 23, 2009)

It's a big download, but I've been hoping for some modern WC action on my PSP! And the price is certainly right. Merry Xmas to us!

Raiders of the Lost Game (May 22, 2007)

Those magazine reviews look like they could have been written based on the PC version, some press releases, and just plain making-things-up. It would have been easier to get away with that kind of behavior back then, pre-internet. I would LOVE to see an arcade-style WC2 on SNES, especially in...
