I just went through this today as I pulled out my copy of KS and decided to play. I am running it through compatability mode and it is running fine. SM would do the same thing if I was not running it as win95. So run it as win95 or win98 and it should work.

You need the DXr2 Decoder Card from Creative. I think the Dxr3 works as well and I have heard of a hollywood decoder card that works. The Dxr2 is not a great card for Winxp if you use it, imho. Of course that is why I am getting a win9x machine set for just Wing Commander.

Yeah, I read a bit about Freelancer, and the no joystick option kinda frightens me. But, if its like Privateer, I might have to give it a shot. Neverp layed much of Privateer 2, but I liked Privateer 1.

What I am wondering, is since there are no more WC games... is there a game that is fairly recent that comes close? Flying missions is cool and all, but I want something that has a plot I can sink my teeth into. So in conclusion, something like WC except recently made.

Cool, I will try that. I just finished my CD version of WC4 last night. If that works for DVD, I will just have to go through it again taking a different route.
