Sound Card, CD-ROM DOS Drivers (Priv 2)

No, it doesn't work for other DOS programs. I believe I have selected the proper settings (hell, I've even tried all combinations, just in case) and it didn't help. And yes, I've tried that too, to no avail. I'm sorry, but I have no idea (it wasn't me who put the computer together). It...

    Simulator implementation

Thanks, SabreAce, but Treman still shows up the 16-bit MS-DOS Subsystem error, so I guess I'm just out of luck. I guess I'll stick to my original plan of replacing Stadoff's 1st mission with my edited one ;) . I understand it might crash the game, but as long as I get to play my mission, it's...

Win XP SP2 and Secret Ops Mission Editing

I found WCPPas too. It's good, I'm just missing a graphical map-editing UI, but that's a detail. Now my main concern is that all HCl's tools show this problem - including Treman, which would come in handy.

    Simulator implementation

Thanks a lot! There's one problem though - Treman and all other utilities from HCl don't work under my WinXP (see my thread on that in the editing forum - I've even repeated the error message there)! So I guess it's bad luck with the names. And, BTW, are there any ships not seen in E1 but...

Sound Card, CD-ROM DOS Drivers (Priv 2)

Yeah, I'd just have to own a CD burner... Or I shouldn't be so absent-minded and bring the game back here, where I do have a CD burner. And the Win95 version would find my AWE64?

Sound Card, CD-ROM DOS Drivers (Priv 2)

You are all misunderstanding me, I'm afraid. 1. I'm not even TRYING to run DosBox on that computer - I know it won't work. (And why would I want to do that? I already have the original DOS.) 2. I mean Privateer 2, Privateer 1 runs perfectly from DOS. The installer (install.exe set not to...

    The WC grape board

Yeah, I guess I'm just being pessimistic. But I do get surprised sometimes - for example when first seeing Vega Strike. I mean, I've seen games sold for lots of money and they were far inferior to Vega Strike...

    Simulator implementation

The missions and all this is packed in the .TRE file and I have no means of getting inside, which makes it impossible to even think of editing them ;). I was rather thinking of replacing the missions - Placing a mission of the same name as one of the Standoff missions in the \mission...

    Simulator implementation

Hmm, I guess I've changed my mind about the waiting... Please, could you tell me the following things? Just for my own use... 1. What's the name of the directory in which missions (Standoff E1)are stored in the .TRE file? 2. What's the name of the first (or any) mission's .mis file. 3. Are...

    TRE file contents and priority

I have a question about Secret Ops, if you wouldn't mind my asking. If I have a file inside a .TRE file (say, \Mission\test.mis, for example) and a file of the same name in the same subdirectory (e.g. \Mission\test.mis, but uncompressed), which will have higher priority, that is, which one...

Win XP SP2 and Secret Ops Mission Editing

Please note this applies to other utils too (exactly the same error for all DOS utilities except WCP Pascal's compiler). It is strange, since other DOS programs run fine under WinXP... I'm probably going to disgruntedly abandon all hope of ever creating a mission or opening a TRE file or...

    TRE files for Secret Ops

How can I see the contents of Secret Ops' TRE files, please? I know I've seen notes about software for the purpose, but I've seen no links. Could anyone help me out with finding the program, please?

    Who loves the Raptor?

Thanks, Maj. Striker. As long as I can convert it using 3DS MAX 7, it's okay by me... Just a little note - you can't do a .max format model if you don't use 3DS MAX - it's MAX's scene format. But you should be able to export it to .3ds - most 3D programs have the possibility. But if you do...

    Simulator implementation

Wow! I've always wanted to fly those WC1&2 ships again! Thanks a lot for the heads-up, I guess I'll eagerly wait for it :) . And BTW, I didn't want to rush you, I was just asking.

    The WC grape board

The problem is that the only goal of game companies is to make money, and that means a lot of money. Their goal ISN'T making good games - if there were a market for bad games, they'd make bad games (I am NOT referencing to WC here, of course!-everyone here knows WC's a great game). Making good...

Sound Card, CD-ROM DOS Drivers (Priv 2)

Hi! Would anyone be so kind as to tell me where to get DOS drivers for a Sound Blaster AWE64 that would work with Priv 2? I run it on an old 120 MHz Pentium (can make it ~80 MHz by turning off turbo) with Win95. The installer runs perfectly under Windows if I don't allow it to detect Windows...

    Simulator implementation

Hello everyone! I'd like to know if it would be possible to somehow implement the simulator, like it was done for the original SO? I know it's planned, but according to the website, it might take a while... The SO simulator replaced the killboard, which I didn't mind... I just thought it...

    The WC grape board

I actually liked those cockpits (WC3-) more than the 'functional' cockpitlessness of WC4. It added so much realism to the game's feel. It's a complaint I have about most (well, in fact, almost every) space sims today - most of them have none, and if any, they are just some struts. Yeah, it's...

Wow! Nice job! Would you be so kind and post it for download somewhere, please, in 3ds max format? Thanks a lot.

Win XP SP2 and Secret Ops Mission Editing

Help needed with Secret Ops mission editing Hello everyone! Could anyone please tell me if it's possible to create missions for Secret Ops under Windows XP? The mission compiler doesn't work, it's a DOS program and no matter what I try, I always get the following dialog: 16 bit MS-DOS...
