Sorry for the bad news I'll be giving you. Have you lookedthere? As explained here too, I sometimes succeed with the Win95 compatibility mode under Win2K, but more often than not it's no use.. :confused:

I haven't figured it out yet, but I have the same kind of problem under Win2k, although WC worked fine at first. Maybe this has something to do with a Windows update ?

Have you tried this thread ? I haven't installed it yet on my laptop (win2k), so I can't be sure with WCP, but I thought only SO was not compatible with Win2000. At least for SO, after several different tries with various settings, I've given up ! :( The "solution" is not stable !

Well, then I'm afraid I at least am not good enough to help you. However, if it's not an acceleration problem, maybe it could be a resolution problem. Apart from what I already proposed, I don't see any other option. Someone else maybe ?

I didn't notice this. :rolleyes: That would confirm that your problem has something to do with the video settings. By the way, if removing the 3D abilities doesn't help (by the control panel, of course), did you also try to update your video drivers ?

That reminds me a similar problem, a few years ago (but never did I encounter any lock up) : half of the screen was black during the missions, and between missions it looked like it was extended to cover the whole screen. Since that was some time ago, I'm not so sure now, but I believe it had...

Is your HD partitioned ? (do you see a C: and a D: in the Explorer ?) That may be the reason why you only see 6.1 MB instead of 28 GB.

I don't have Priv2, so I'm not sure, but when I read a CD-ROM read error, I rather suspect a problem with the CD. Did you check ?

I'm not sure whether you talk about the same mission as the one for which I used the shields : instead of firing missiles and guns, I hit the afterburners towards the enemy, released it so that I bumped into him not too fast (this way, I only lost the shields, and not my ship as well !). While...

I couldn't even play under DOS :( Yet I read very carefully how to modify the autoexec.bat and the config.sys, but to no avail.

To rapidly earn money, a good idea would be to have on the same flight three scout missions (same system, same nav points or almost, but different buyers...) ;) If I remember well (but maybe you'll call it cheating :rolleyes: ), you can choose a mission, then save your game, then load it...

I'm afraid I have to tell the method is not fully reliable :( In fact, sometimes I can play WC:SO without any problem, whereas there are times when I can't.

Since I travel a lot (and in some places I can't connect to the Internet :( ), I don't check what happened regularly. That's why I prefer the "older first" order. It's more natural to read this way. ;)

:) Good news everybody ! I just flew two missions without any problem. I repeat : I can play Secret Ops under Windows 2000, after having installed the Win95 compatibility mode.
