    The silliest callsign

My very first callsign when I first got CYAC was Hannibal. I wish I could say it was because of Hannibal crossing the Alps or something, but nope. It was because I was ten years old and thought the A-Team was cool. After that, I settled on Reverend for a long time because I used a lot of...

YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Screw 1918! Screw the Yanks! SCREW THE CURSE! The Boston Red Sox have won the World Series! 11 days ago, they were down 0-3 against the Yankees in the ALCS, eight wins later, they've WON THE WORLD SERIES!!!!!!!!!! What is there to say? I...

    Boston Red Sox

I can't remember the original journalist who said it, but David Halberstram quoted him. That's so true, isn't it? I've heard so many stories of Sox fans who've lived their whole lives and died never seeing the Sox win, which is espcially bad considering the heartbreaks in '46, '67, '75, '86...

    Boston Red Sox

Hey, I don't know if there are any baseball fans out there, but the Boston Red Sox are one win away from winning the World Series for the first time in 88 years. Is there anyone out there that lives in Boston? If the Sox win, I would really like to get a copy of the Boston Globe from the day...

    Values/Ethics in WC

I don't think people are arguing that the Kilrathi are inherently evil, but the Kilrathi Empire was certainly an evil entity. Germans in the 1940s were not evil, but the Nazi regime certainly was. So, the "good v. evil" concept in Wing Commander isn't between Humans and Kilrathi, but the...

I tried occasionally, but it just wasn't the same. Most of the ones who got broke ended up being used as token corpses in my GI Joe battles.

I think it's a matter of actually exercising control over all that territory. Using Star Wars as an example, a lot of the worlds on the outer rim, while technically part of the Empire, were wild and lawless because the Empire couldn't project their power out that far. Perhaps it is the same with...

This is a pretty good forum for Generals. http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/gentopic.php?board=17143 For the older games, you probably want to try strategyplanet.com

    Action figure name.

There was nothing more saddening then when a G.I. Joe's rubber band broke. Because the one's whose bands wore out and broke were the ones you played with the most, thus obtsensibly the ones you liked the most.

    Values/Ethics in WC

I agree with Shaggy. Wing Commander (at least the first three) are a simple 'good vs. evil' premise. Things got a bit more ambitious in WCIV and with some equally ambitious interpretation, you could say it's a commentary on the level of militarism in society or the question of when do the means...

McAuliffe era battleship class design WIP

Pretty slick looking, although I imagined the turrets would be a little smaller. It seems like those would have awfully slow turning rates (like real Battleship turrets). Beautiful model, though. :)

    Privateer 2

Good point. This raises another question for me, though. We consider the Wing Commander novels canon, but were they established as canon by Origin? I think they were, like the Star Wars novels are considered canon, but the Star Trek novels are not. Just curious.

    Privateer 2

If you're correct, then I apologize. I remembered reading somewhere that Electronic Arts developed the game at its Manchester offices and slapped the Privateer name on it instead of marketing it as a new game series. If it was as you said, though, then why was there no reference to anything in...

    Privateer 2

Basically, Privateer 2 was not developed to be Privateer 2. The developers did not set it in the Wing Commander universe, but Origin slapped the Privateer brand name on it to get a little more sales out of the game which explains the CIS, the lack of Kilrathi, etc.
