Thoughts on new Star Trek movie (*spoilers!*)

NOT POTENTIAL BUT ACTUAL SPOILER WARNING No, they very clearly state that by going back in time, Nero has created an alternate timeline, or alternate reality. They did this for that very reason- a prequel of any sort was bound to clash with some bits of continuity the way Enterprise did...

    James S. Kirk?

Special effects were awesome, plot-line has no issues with it as far as I'm concerned. A few minor things that nagged at me (like a certain romance) but other than that I give this movie two big thumbs up, will see again and definitely hoping for a sequel.

    James S. Kirk?

I'm seeing it tonight at 7, I'll be sure to leave my impressions on it... granted my standards seem to be a bit lower than most here when it comes to what I expect from this.

    Armchair Quarterbacking

I think Confed knew better than to think that the kats were that far out of it.

    SWC Tiger's Claw

The Sivar was designed to get in, fire the cannon, and get out quickly. I'm pretty sure SM1 establishes that it's not expected to be able to attack a ship like the Tiger's Claw, as the Claw would simply move out of range... but the Sivar is a tougher nut to crack than a Fralthi, which are said...

    SWC Tiger's Claw

How often do we see other carriers have explosive attempts at compromising the flight deck? This is a bit like asking how many times my Michigan home has been hit by hurricanes that sweep through the area... :) At any rate, there's WC3/4, where taking down such a flight deck would be as easy...

    SWC Tiger's Claw

So the first time was a very convenient way to force Blair into action when he wouldn't have had a reason to otherwise, and the other two involved internal detonations? Doesn't sound like a horrible flight deck setup at all.

    Kilrathi Resistance Movement

Freedom Flight elaborates further on this. Excellent novel, if you ever find a copy.

    SWC Tiger's Claw

Hmmm? What's all this about the flaw being widely recognized? I still don't get how it was such a flawed design as far as the PTC was concerned. The flight deck went down quite often.... like when it needed to go down so that Blair had a reason to fly out there, and/or when Jazz lit bombs off...

Take the third integral of the function and multiply by Pi.

    PSP adaptation = easier missions?

I've definitely beaten said mission without my dumbfires on previous runs, due to a combination of difficulty aiming them and occasionally unresponsive controls. I always had to make a few ramming runs, though. I can understand dumbfires still being mounted, but no damage? Nice!

    PSP adaptation = easier missions?

I still want to know how Chris Reid did that. Hooooooly crap.

    WC4 question

Now I know that isn't right. The guy wasn't evading at all? Something's wrong, here.

    WC4 question

I think I'll do it on one of my next runs through WC4, which won't be for awhile, as I started the series over now that I have a joystick, but haven't had much time to play, and have been focusing much of that time on Phantasy Star Online. We need to figure out what the "minimum" number of...

    Best Weapon Combo

Choosing mouse mode takes away the tab option from WC3 and gives it to the mouse. You double right-click and hold to afterburn. Bit of a pain, that was, as you couldn't fire while afterburning either.

    Best Weapon Combo

I was a sloppy pilot in the WC3/4 engine. Didn't feel the same as WC1 or 2... and in 3, I played mouse/keyboard, so I couldn't turn and afterburn at the same time.

    Best/worst Sci Fi Movie

Yes, as a matter of fact I have. However I forgot how it was after events reset themselves and it never happened after all.

    SWC Tiger's Claw

I always figured that the TC became just as famous for how it went down as it was for the Enigma sector campaign (I'm not sure how public Goddard and Firekka became, since they're of the "Secret" Missions). One of those cases where an entire class was defined for many people, mentally, by a...

    Best/worst Sci Fi Movie

EDIT: LOAF beat me to a lot of this as I typed it. Ah, well. If we ever adopt the thing about the "certain franchises", Star Trek: Generations would definitely have to drop off right away. I can see where someone could hate Nemesis, but I actually rather enjoyed it... it was the only ST movie...
