I don't understand what the problem is...Excalibers are more heavily armed than the standard Panther, and are still really good ships. Thunderbolts are still decent heavy fighters/light bombers. Flying them in SO is tough, but not impossible.

Yes, yes she would...but no one but us and her knows that she is for sure! Excalibers are still pretty good machines, with the right pilot...SO is tougher with one, but it's still not impossible.

WC4 cost quite a bundle...a couple million. It's not cheap to build all of those sets, program all of that code, hire those actors (especially Bernard, Hamill and Wilson), hire an company to do the special effects...

And if you notice, none of the military craft resemble their civilian counterparts, either. (Well, the Duress kinda does...)
